Yep, we're "this" close away from winning the Super Bowl.

If "this" can be defined as having a waaaays to go in terms of learning how to play together and set aside all the egos.

1. No feelings here, just pointing out stupidity when I see it.

2. Gosh, the playoffs? I thought they were crap for years after that 13-3 season. Or so I hear. But of course, that new coach didn't get to the Super Bowl for 6 years. Fans like you would have turned on him much much sooner than that.
1. Then you should point in the mirror, estupid.

2. It was 5 years and the new coach did something the old coach couldnt, win a playoff game. Including taking them to an AFCC his first year there.

Yes, it proved that any team can get hot at the right time and make it to the Super Bowl.

However, it's not a roll of the dice. The Cardinals weren't handed a winning lottery ticket...there's effort and execution behind it.

Effort and execution is something that the Cowboys lack.

Before spouting off about the Super Bowl, how about we:
1. Have a winning record in December,
2. Win a playoff game,
3. Get to the Super Bowl.

i think this team should focus on making the playoffs consistently before even thinking they are anywhere near a SB team. a lot of people say that most of the teams in the playoffs this year were mediocre and maybe thats the case. but that actually speaks more about the horrible state that this team is in right now than even with all the chances and mediocre teams the cowboys still couldn't make the playoffs! This team still has a long way to go and it starts with the coaching staff all the way down to the attidude of the players!

Did you watch the games? The Cardinals game should have been won, the defense didn't step up. They beat us in overtime on a special teams play. As for Pittsburgh, their defense definently didn't rip through ours. We had put up more points than them midway through the fourth quarter. Our defense layed down their in the final minutes and Pittsburgh hit those opportunities. BOTH games could and should have been won.

Ryan

That's exactly the point. The bottom line is that Dallas all too ofeten left yards on the filed, not because the opponent took those yards away, but because the Cowboys themselves didn't play with urgency. They were too lax; too often under-executing vs. their potential. If they just put that "stupid" stuff aside, and executed - and I'm implicating players AND coaches when I say "they" - then I have no doubt that a Champoinship would have EASILY been thiers. And since the same team is effectively returning next season, all I'm saying is that they are primed for a Super Bowl run - IF they want it. It really is that simple. But htey HAVE TO want it; that's theexact change in attitude that must happen for this to take place.

In Dungy's first year they lost 41-0 to the Jets in the Wild card game.

Stupid statement.

Why? We didn't make the playoffs. As such, we weren't contenders. It wasn't a stupid statement.

Stupid response. 9-7 two of the last three seasons and not winning a playoff game in 13 years is not a contender. You're gonna harp on one 13 win season to prove we're legit?? The Colts went 13-3 in 99 and were crap years afterwards.

You're silly. Ask anyone with any once of football sense and they will tell you the cowboys are contenders winnings playoff games has nothing to do with it. We haven't won a playoff game in 13 years that really pisses me off because it's not as if we've been to the playoffs every year for the past 13 years. I can't stand these fans who just spit ESPN right back and swear they know something about football. It's really sad.

The first statement in bold was exactly the garbage ESPN and the media in general were dissemenating before the season started. Just about every publication had the 2008 Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

You're the one who seems to be listen to ESPN.

1. Fantastic come back. Really, you should applaud yourself.

2. AFCC game his first year? What? You said they were crap for years!

I thought it was a great game and both teams deserved to be there because they earned it.

Just because I thought the cowboys was going to the superbowl and are contenders doesn't mean that I listen to ESPN and just spit back what they are saying. A broke clock is right twice a day.

It comes down to discipline.

We have absolutely none of that.

Wade is probably at home practicing making "mean faces " in the mirror, preparing for his new personaality next year.

Yeah, with all that mediocrity out there and we couldn't even make the playoffs. But the SB next year is ours for the taking. Yeah, right.

Going to the playoffs every year doesn't equate to the SB success look at the Colts if you don't believe me.

I really do think that if this group of talent ever decides to focus o that one common goal to win a Super Bowl, and does the offseason work to get on that page and stay on it during the regular season, then there's NO doubt in my mind the Cowboys can win next year's Super Bowl. In fact, if Jones plays this right we can even be onto a Dynasty because the last few playoffs have really showcased the worst string of Super Bowl contenders and winners in the league's history. I really do think the Cowboys are "that much" better, talent-wise. They just need to decide that's it's time to go "take" it and not just "talk" about it, because it is ours for the taking.

Carry on... :cop:

You may consider this Super Bowl to have been mediocrity but both teams played better football than I have seen out of the Cowboys since Jimmy Johnson left.

As long as Jerry is running the team, I don't expect to see much improvement with the possible exception of the 2010 uncapped year when Jerry will try to buy a winner by spending more money than anyone else.

This bunch of people is a reflection of its management.

Yep, the sad part is the Original Poster doesn't understand how his comments about "mediocrity" is an even bigger indictment on the Cowboys.
