This team is contending now
At some point in the next 2 seasons the back up QB is likely to have to win a game or 2 that helps us make the playoffs or determines home field
Moore or Sanchez are not going to give us a chance
That would be worth it from my perspective

I'm not trading Romo for less than a first and I'm certainly not releasing him

They are not getting a first fit him and they can't keep him at that salary.

A lot of people are emotionally invested in Romo, and have a siege mentality after years of him getting unfairly bashed. But the truth is that there is virtually no chance he stays, and no well-run franchise would keep him if they faced the same situation as the Cowboys. You don't pay money to players you hope DON'T play when you can spend it on players you hope DO play. It's not a real thing in the NFL.
Well done, good lad!
I predict a swell tenure for him here at CZ!

Dallas will be in the enviable position Seattle was in with Russell Wilson a couple of years ago once Romo's contract is off the books. There will be a one- or two-year window to amass talent with a low-paid quarterback because Prescott is under contract for another three seasons with $630,000 and $720,000 salaries in 2018 and 2019.

Since Dak Prescott is under contract on the cheap for the next three seasons, shouldn't that make it a three year window instead of only one or two?

And the window is actually much larger.

Prescott's contract will not become bloated the instant he signs a big money extension in the future. The first year hit be will low and the following two to three years will almost certainly be restructured to create cap space.

That's what Dallas does with almost all of the big money contracts.

Tony Romo never had a cap hit over $15M until this season.

lol. You would have to sweeten that pot considerably. No FO is trading for Tony.

That is what everyone was saying about Bradford. :D Look in desperation teams will do anything to better themselves. Houston isn't go anywhere with Osweiller . Romo would be a good fit with that team. I think Romo has more value than people are putting on it. We will see how this plays out.

I don't think Dallas will get anything for Romo with the rest of the NFL knowing that Dallas is going to drop him and his contract. I hope I'm wrong.
