I wonder if he'll enter the Supplemental Draft? I'd love to have him. Bet there's not much chance given Parcells' friendship with Groh. Still, it would be nice.

What exactly did he do?

Not sure. I'm sure the "full" story (or as much as Groh will release) will come out shortly, but I don't have the premium access to read it from rivals.com.

I do know that he and Groh have had some issues over the 3+ years he's been in Hooville, he's been busted for possession of/smoking pot, and has some weight issues, as well.

Maybe this will be similar to the clarrett situation only that Ahmad brooks has much more talent and upside. I can only imagine getting him in the 3rd or 4th round.

If someone whos one of the better players on a college team gets kicked off the team, that usually means they really did something really foul. College coaches need their top players to maintain their jobs.

Right now I'm not sure I'd use a good pick on him, despite the talent.

I'm with you. How often does a star player get kicked out of a major college program? Even Lawrence Phillips, Derek Ross and Jeramy Stevens weren't kicked out of their schools with their rap sheets in college. This kid sounds like bad news.

Wow how does he mess up so badly? Last year people had him pegged as a top 10 pick if he came out, then after a injury riddled year his stock substantially dropped, and now he is kicked off the team? Should be interesting come suplemental draft time

The article really says nothing.

He was kicked off for the ever famous, "undisclosed off the field incident."

However, it does say Brooks will submit an appeal to be in this years draft.

The Cowboys no longer gamble on guys with character problems with eary picks. Getting kicked off a team coached by a Parcells buddy is another big knock.

The Free Safety Elam we just signed kind of trumps this.

I do hear what you are saying though and I agree, we will probably pass on him. What a shame because this kid could potentially give us the top LB corps in the NFL.

I wouldn't spend another first day pick on the second coming of Derek Ross. Spend it on Kai Parham instead.

this guy was horrendous on the field last yr, and a trouble maker his entire time at UVA off of it

I watched several of UVA's game this yr and the guy looked fat, somewhat slow and failed to make any plays of note

I wouldnt touch him, even late on the 2nd day

He should enter the draft, and we should draft him FIRST!!!!!!! I had him tops on my list before he decided to stay another year in college, this guy will blow any Linebacker away in the draft, by FAR! In my measly opinion. His upside is endless, and Parcells can get his head right.

He can't enter the Draft. I bet he applies for the Supplemental Draft though. I hope we seriously consider him there.

Players have a deadline to decalre for the Draft. That deadline was January 18th this year I believe.

The Supplemental Draft is for guys who would be going back to college but for one reason or another they can't. Unless UVA reinstates Brooks he cannot play college ball in 2006.

This means the Sup Draft is his best chance to play football. In the Sup teams place a big on a player. For example, assume Dallas offers a 3rd round pick for him but New England offers a 2nd. The Patriots would get him based on the better bid. In the next year's draft New England would not have their 2nd round pick having used it on Brooks.

Now let's say both offer a 2nd round for him. Dallas would get him by virtue of being the lower ranked team. Same condition applies, they lose a 2nd.

Hope that helps.

No, just 1 pick per player. If we bid a 1st and someone who drafted prior to us at 18 does as well, there is no way we can get him.

He had an off year in 2005. I think the price for him will be around a 3rd, possibly a 2nd if some team thinks it was a fluke. I'd love to get him in the Sup and Carpenter at 18.

Carpenter
Burnett (if he can grab the brass ring this year)
Brooks
Ware

Would be too much fun to watch for years to come.

February 17
(3:00 PM): Confusion over status of star Cavs' LB... There is an unconfirmed report on the internet that Virginia has dismissed star MLB Ahmad Brooks from the team. However, according to a spokesman at the school, Brooks' status :has not changed." Brooks had been expected to be a relatively high pick at the 2006 draft, however, opted to return to school for his senior season after an injury plagued junior campaign. Stay tuned as we will continue to follow this story.

The plot thicken's
