Aikman doesn't know if it's accurate that the HC of the Cowboys is a coveted job

It is not. There are 32 teams and they all talk. A lot of former players and coaches are.around in other teams. They talk. Everyone knows it's tough working with Jerry. No good coach would be willing to Cowboys. Just has been and those looming for another pay check. For Gawd's sake he wants an incentive based contract. And he wants to give them.zeke.

That’s….what I’ve been saying.

I very seriously doubt Jerry sees it that way.

He literally has NO idea what a detriment that he, himself is to the organization and winning football.

But hey he will be on Netflix again somewhere soon, and that’s what’s important.

no aspiring coach that has CHOICES wants to go to a location with a meddling owner
I dont think thats the issue and I'm not sure if they all think that

Problem isnt the owner meddles, the problem is he isnt good at GM and it makes the HC to do more than he has to

I get that but I think we need to stick to the current situation instead of the past 20 something years

Completely disagree that it’s not coveted.

…It’s one of 32 lucrative paying jobs.
….The expectations aren’t as high as they used to be as the owner celebrates just making the playoffs.
…. The roster isn’t horrible. It has a decent amount of talent (no nfl roster is perfect).
…… the prestige that would come along with turning this thing around would be incredible.

The same owner that said 500 coaches could win a superbowl in the 1990's and acts like the GM.
Now talking about incentive based contracts for coaches that has no salary cap

Yea, definitely coveted by the Andy Reid's of the NFL.

A lot of guys out there want to be an NFL head coach. There are only 32 of those jobs. They all know that winning in Dallas is now an uphill battle because of Jerry and Stephen Jones. They know the FO is flawed and inept. Still the money is very good. Many of them would willingly take the chance and hope they can overcome the odds. Our Cowboys will pick their next coach from a rather large group of candidates. Question I have is simply: Does it really matter much who as long as the Jones are in control?

He is extremely delusional as to what motivates people.

With how the team has handled free agency if I were a potential coach I would wonder if the front office would get me the players I needed or give me the influence over the roster without interjecting in day to day affairs. They may get that the first year or two.

In terms of being a coveted job there's still not a higher profile head coaching gig and if you like the spotlight and all that comes with it, its your coaching dream job. If you didn't like that you would probably not covet it.
