Aikman is right, the penalty should be severe

Red nailed it right there. We all know how Aikman approached the game and how pissed off he was when teammates and even coaches didn't buy in. Aikman believes what happened damaged the league and the perception that the Pats once again got caught cheating gives the league a black eye. There is little doubt if Aikman were commish no one in New England would be very happy with the way this turns out for them.

BDC... Wow... Seriously you may be on to something. Commissioner Aikman?

Troy Aikman, I believe, is a good person, was a great QB, and now is a good TV announcer.
But he is drawing conclusions like the average Barney Fife out there. Could be right, but not for sure.
Guess well know soon enough.

Didn't know the average Barney Fife was a three time Super Bowl Winning QB just like Aikman and Brady. Learn something new everyday. Yes he is drawing conclusions but his conclusions have a little bit more substance and experience to them than yours, mine, or your average barney Fife.

Love Aikman. But he's jumping the gun here.
But that is just my opinion.
I notice Marino and several other QBs agree with me.
Let, allow the facts to play out and not be Barney Fifes
:)

If you are going to dance around the subject like the pats are doing... Sometime you need to just call it as it looks.

Let it sort itself out by putting all cards above table .... Not below.

Fair enough and I agree.
Let's see what happens before executing someone based on theory.

I don't disagree with your point.

I just think pats are hiding behind the innocent until proven guilty. Which is fine.understood.

But I am taking this a little personal like Aikman is.

We fought haft for that 90s domination :)

I agree with Aikman about this being a serious issue. The funny thing is, I think I agree with him because he was open in saying that he struggled to throw a wet ball. He said he couldn't sleep some nights when rain was predicted for some games. I think he even made his centers change there pants at halftime during rain games. If he could have just adjusted the football to his preference, and negated the issue, that would have been a much easier path for him. It is a serious issue about the integrity of the game, it can give "cheaters" a significant advantage over those who adhere to the rules.

Well the entire football world got pissed that the Cowboys got away with a noncall against the Lions. Then felt justified to take away a great catch by Bryant which in what the rule books says, is a catch.

If Brady didn't know then why would anyone else want to deflate those balls?

I'm not a Brady or Patriots hater and I still want them to spank the Seahawks but even Barney Fife would have cracked this case. No way in H E double hockey sticks that Brady didnt have input in those balls being deflated. God almighty didn't magically relieve pressure in the balls, if he was using divine intervention to give advantages to teams he wouldn't have let the Dez catch get overturned because we all know he is a Cowboys fan.

That's a great point concerning Troy. I haven't seen him this angry about an issue in years. He usually tries to stay pretty vanilla in most situations, but this one seems more personal.

I for one think that the Patriots should be severely punished. Take away their draft picks and suspend Bellicheck for a year, just like they did with Peyton.

This infraction of cheating is much more severe. What if they have been doing this for years? All those close games in Foxboro where it was raining and it was cold would have given them an advantage even though they didn't need it. Just knowing that they altered something to affect the game gives them a psychological advantage. Thats because they know just by altering those balls they will be able to catch it better or not be prone to fumbling.

I agree with Aikman. Its a serious issue. It means that the Patriots believe they are above any team in the NFL and can cheat all they want without any repercussions. That in a way is not fair for the other teams that have to abide by the rules and knowing that these rules are detrimental to how the play the game.

Nice.
Bellicheat is a rodent...the refs are rodents, Mara is a rodent, Goodell is rodent...a theme is going here.....all rodents need to be exterminated....

I think this whole thread is too Mickey Mouse for me.

Aikman is right.

But they are not going to do anything meaningful on this as Robert Kraft is too important to the other owner and they will not punish him.

What makes him more important than any other owner? He provides absolutely no value whatsoever to the other owners.

The Patriots need to be severely punished. Worst than the Saints. Peyton was accused of wanting to hurt players and there was no evidence. Yet was punished. Patriots were caught cheating ONCE AGAIN. They need to be severely punished.

I don't say its fair.

I just don't think they do anything.

Kraft is probably one of the top 3 owners in importance.

Its a GOOD OL BOY network.

High profile player who achieved same amount of duper bowl wins.
High profile analyst/commentator who is taking a hard line and not being wishy washy about his thoughts on the issue.

Good points.

Wow. I forgot about that. Wet ball issues.
Now, more than ever.... He is the guy to be in this discussion.

It's not personal sonny.... It's just business.....
Who's knows... This could turn out to be both!!

Several trusted QBs have stated only person with control over balls is QB. Brady knew. Unless the FBI gets involved then there won't be an answer. I see the Commish fining them anyway to quiet all this.

Goodell should be able yo levy any punishment no matter how severe without a second thought.
In return Kraft should /will take it. Get over it. Then move on.

Most likely... but this needs swift punishment.
