should get t-shirts made saying "Brady knew"....That'll teach him!!!

If anyone would know if tampering with the ball would affect the game, I will side with a HOF QB over chat rooms, and water-cooler comments....Brady and his hoodie coach are cheaters...I don't see them getting any penalty of value....someone said it in another thread, but what do they care about penalties now if this action got them into the SB? Is the league going to fine them $500k? oooh, you took away $500k when we just made an extra $50m by getting to the SB....

the league is turning into a joke more and more every year...

Then how do you explain other HOF QBs like Dan Marino and Joe Theisman saying they wouldnt be able to tell a difference? I'm not defending Brady I'm just tired of the Lynch Mob mentality in our dumbed down society right now. Let's hear the facts. People have been talking about how incompetent the refs have been for weeks but now are just saying "the refs said they did their job so they must have." This article in Grantland by Charles Pierce says it all

Some people are more in tune with the details of the equipment. Brady is one of those. His 12.5 statement says that. And his guilty body language and deflection tactics.

When you're not guilty you emphatically deny it. He didn't.

Why do people not think this was intentional? Didn't the Colts or others make an issue of it before, well before the championship game? If that is the case, then why should they get the benefit of the doubt? It seems to be the same pattern with the team. They flaunt the rules, get to a winning position that they desire, i.e. Playoffs, SB appearance or victory, and then are slapped on the wrist after the fact. The Pats don't care. They'll take a SB win and a year of suspension of Bellicheat over anything. SBs can be far and few between and no one is going to take it away from them even if others * it.

How do you know how Marino and Theisman were toward their balls and when did you become a body language expert? Again read the article and you'll realize how ridiculous these statements and other ones from the media are. But you already have the pitchfork sharpened so why talk logic. He could be guilty as hell but I'll wait to pass judgement. After all you were the same person who swore for hours that Dez's ball didn't hit the ground because you thought there was no definitive proof.

Of course Brady knows the balls get deflated. If you want your balls at the lowest end, then I'd think it's very common to ask that they be that way.
That is not the question. As Aikman and others have said, the QB knows how he wants his balls. Usually, texture is the main issue and not air pressure. But it sounds like it's both for Brady.

The REAL question is whether or not he asked someone to purposefully lower the pressure below the bottom range. It sounds like most think he did...which is understandable.

Nature says if the NE balls were inflated in a warmer room than the Indy balls (no idea if they were...each team handles it differently) they would loose psi quicker in 40-50 degree weather....and 1-2 psi would be the amount. If they started at the low end, they for sure would be below standard in a couple of hours.

At halftime, the balls would be re-inflated and normal temp...so there should be no difference.

That's the heart if the issue. It could simply be the Pats start out at the lowest acceptable PSI. A 20 degree difference between inside and outside is going to drop that PSI below standard.

This is a tricky one for the NFL as it should never have leaked how many balls were below standard. Also, since they planned to check this, they could have been far more scientific (e.g. getting an average psi on the balls when they checked them pre-game, having some comparison of PSI loss with the Indy balls).

I honestly don't see how they can penalize here as unless they have better evidence. Temperature and use will drop PSI. There is no rule dictating in-game PSI to account for drops. Unless they can prove tampering or loss outside a normal range, the league may have no grounds for a penalty.

The penalty should be severe. Ie, bounty gate and then some.

I always believed Aikman to be of the highest character. Especially when it comes to the integrity of the game.

Aikman helped build the legit cowboys dynasty and rodent like cheaters being mentioned alongside his cowboys.

Heh heh "rodent" was supposed to be "doesn't"....

I guess it sorta fits lol

I was wondering what some of the comments meant.....lmao

Aikman does have high character.
And he is correct that QB should know if air is purposefully taken out of the ball.
Since teams bring their own balls now, of course Brady has a hand it what condition they're in.

That does not mean that between the official game day inspection 2 hours before the game and the actual game Brady told someone to further lower the psi.

And Aikman did NOT say he did that, but did say if it was done they should be heavily punished.

Show me where I said Dez catch definitely didn't hit the ground.
And show me where it definitly did hit the ground.
I said something along the lines of there is no way they could see it did for sure.

I became a body language expert in the 7th grade.

The balls were checked and found to be ok before the game. Sometime later the balls were found to be below legal limit. No equipment guy would change anything without Tommy knowing and telling them that it was preferred.
There is also a past history of cheating surrounding this team and other tactics like the ineligible receiver sissy stuff they try. I'll make my judgment now.
And why does it bother you? If I'm wrong. I'm wrong.
It really won't affect my life or anyone else's.

But rest assured. I'm almost always right.

My understanding, and I am still figuring out how to use my slide rule, is that the psi (pounds per square inch(shouldn't we be metric(snark))) of the the Wilson football should be 12.5 to 13.5 as "measured" by the referee two hours before game time.

It has been postulated (always wanted to use that word at the zone) that the Patriots could get their desired result, a football with a psi of 11, though an understanding of NFL procedures and the laws of nature without resorting to the needle.

1) you're kidding on 1 right? You argued with me all day about it. Then I showed you a pic and you said you also found one in my earlier post showing it hit. Lordie!

Anything could happen to the balls. They didn't cheat on their play calling whether you like the plays or not. Teams have used those formations. There there is this:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...teve-young-nfl-deflategate-patriots/22130249/

"I asked our equipment guy to pump one football up to 13 pounds per square inch and another to 11 psi," Theismann told USA TODAY Sports. "I wanted to physically handle the footballs and see if I could tell a difference in them. And I couldn't.

"If you just pick a football up that is 13 psi and another that's 11 psi, no one would know the difference. Because you don't grip a football tight anyway to throw it."

"Dan Marino made a great point -- that the last thing you're thinking about as a quarterback when you get to the line of scrimmage is, 'I wonder if this football is to 2 psi lighter?'" Theismann said.

I've watched it many times. It looked like it probably did but there isn't a pic I could find where it is definitive.

Marino and Joe may not have the diabolical mind of a cheater.
I've heard many others say they definetely could tell. Pro NFL players.
I'll also use my own expertise in basketball. If the ball is off in pressure or lopsided at all or the rims are off an inch. I'll know even to this day. To some it wouldn't matter.
And some people could play tennis just as well with a log as a high end racket--Seinfeld

Goodell should be able yo levy any punishment no matter how severe without a second thought.
In return Kraft should /will take it. Get over it. Then move on.

Most likely... but this needs swift punishment.

He should but I have my doubts. Kraft was one of the first owners to come out in his support of Goodell in the Ray Rice case. Goddell owes his job to Robert Kraft. I don't think it's going to be more than a fine or maybe a draft pick which the Patriots don't care about anyway. If they did they wouldn't have cheated again after Spy Gate.
