It's obvious some people here would love to have Cowboy games announced much like the announcers for the Commanders on Sirius radio.

Now you're putting words in other peoples mouths. There was a statement made that you and the others with your opinion chose to ignore. It is alright to state your opinion once, make the point, and shut up about it. It is a totally different thing in terms of objectivity, to make the same point over and over again, beating a dead horse into a pulp. Aikman kept reemphasizing that Dallas looked bad in the last few games; he made it a theme. How is that unbias?

What many of are saying we want is someone who really is Unbias. John Madden has criticized the Cowboys plenty of times, and most times I found myself agreeing with what he said. Madden comes across as a guy who just loves football. He'll compliment the Cowboys when they're good. He'll compliment the Eagles when they're good. Aikman does not come across as unbias. You know people used to think Randy Galloway was unbias too, just stating his opinions. I think people forget that unbias goes two ways.

OK...so you're not the only one that misinterpreted it.

I had no problem understanding it at all...he put 2 lines of thought out there, leaving it up to the viewer as to which point they would embrace.

The point is that someone who was good at the job wouldn't have made that mistake.

Not nearly as often at it's been mentioned on this board.

wow. most excellent point of the day. it's ok if we whine and moan about our poor play but if aikman, of all people, points it out, CRY FOUL!

the bigger point is - it's only a "mistake" if you want/need it to be. giving 2 opinions isn't a mistake, it's simply showing more than 1 side.

that's what seems to upset people.

I mean how many times did he bring up how poorly the cowboys looked in the last few games?

whah, whah, whah. Of course he's going to say that...isn't just about every other sports analyst saying that? (Sorry, but Mickey Spagnola doesn't count). And you know whyyyyy they're saying that? Because IT'S FRIGGIN TRUE!

Don't expect Troy to bring a skirt and pom-poms into the broadcast booth just because it's how some of you spend your lives.

oh I'm gonna win a debate by saying "whah, whah, whah," and without any substantial arguments... The last sentence has already been addressed several times, yet you bring it up again.

you know other people think you're whining and moaning in other threads about this season, yet don't play the whine card. Is that how people win arguments on this board?

maybe it's not a debate to be 'won' but an expression of opinion. why does everyone have to make every post a personal windmill jihad around here?

other people think a lot of things. no matter what i do or say some will agree, some will not. if 'the beautiful posters' of the board don't like me then i'm ok. i never cared for the holier than thou of the world anyway.

Well then...why not practice what you preach?

Because it's true?

It wasn't a mistake. He gave 2 varying points of view.

The point I'm trying to make is the "whine" card is a very weak thing to play. Those who study both debate and/or philosophy know that there are several things wrong with that kind of approach to an argument. One of two things I can think up right now is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_the_well

Another problem is that these "Whine" statements are attacking the person making the argument and not the argument itself. very weak.

better way to say that and yes, something for me to consider. but when someone keeps posting "wah, troy sucks" it just gets old and 'whiney'.

i'd call a dog barking an opera if it came out that way but it's usually just barking.

I knew that someone was going to take that out of context. Congratulations. But obviously there is a difference between debate and sports casting where nobody is denying your opinion on the air, so no need to mention something again in an argument.

words ... mouth ... There are some of us who like Aikman, but don't think he is an unbias announcer. Thats like saying that you would have to like your favorite singer as president because you liked him as a singer. The mere notion that people think he is being bias must mean he is doing something wrong, especially considering that some of us didn't have problems with him last year.

Aikman was pretty awful last night, especially on the PI against Randle El, which was clearly offensive PI... Even after the replay, AIkman was talking about how the refs got it right, when it was so obvious they didn't....
