Al Davis does it again... Greg Ellis released

Ellis kind of wore out his welcome here. I'm surprised the Raiders are getting rid of him. It's not like their talent cup runneth over. Oh well, thanks for the memories Greg--at least you tried and were a solid player. That's a lot more than can be said of some of his campo-era teammates.

I don't think he was ever the same after he broke his leg. That season he was an All-Pro. He never regained form after that in my opinion.

Greg Ellis is done. Sign him to a 1-day contract so he can retire a Cowboy.

hell catch on with a team. maybe somebody like buffalo. a team going into the 3-4. i could see that happening

Cut by two teams in one year.

Greg: "See, I told you they were all out to get me. I just knew I wasn't wanted. It wasn't my imagination."

I wonder if he's complaining right now?

I think he'd be better off going to a 4-3 and moving back to DE. He's not a LB and never was.

It didn't completely kill his career, but you're right, it might have been a whole different story if he hadn't had that injury.

It always seemed like he was never quite as quick or powerful really after that injury. What could have been....

I agree. That year he had like two 90 yard touchdowns and was a force on defense. He never was as dominating after the injury.

That was always my take.

After the injury, he was solid (on very bad teams with Ekuban/Meyers/Spellman and other assorted JAGs) to a little above average (on better teams with Ware).

Right before the injury he was playing so good there was a little talk of him being DPOY. Dude was all over the field and was a force.

Like a fish. The Raider organization stinks from the head down.

It's a shame. Spellman rolled right over him and was gone a year after that.

Was that who did it? It was against Atlanta, too, wasn't it? I can almost picture the play...

No I think we played Atlanta earlier in the year and I watched it. I wasn't able to see the the game where it happened, but that is who did it.

I agree especially if he doesn't start. As a #3DE who could rotate in on passing downs he might still have some value.

they didnt want randy moss and the next season he caught, what? like 23 TDs? not a ellis fan but maybe the raiders not wanting him speaks volumes in favor of ellis?

I think us not wanting him speaking volumes for Mr. Ellis.

Now the Raiders?

If the Raiders don't want him he's pretty much done.
