Al Harris should be on the Cowboys radar as DC!

Absolutely not!!! Isn't it Quinn who like to go with the lighter more sleek defensive linemen??? Nope!!! He'd try to make Clark and Quinnen slim down.

Quinn's defenses were always light in the *** against the run. Im not trying to go down that path again.
I’m looking at the Commanders defense and I don’t see slimmed down linemen. Mazi just sucked. Whether he was 320 or 290.

I sure would take him back.
I wouldn't,

seriously like that's shocking, I don't want another retread He was really great in a regular season but even the biggest games in the regular season we've seen what's happening in Washington happen here we don't want that again I'm sorry he just his defense will get us more sacks and maybe some more turnovers but he can't win the big games he gets out coach outplayed and I don't want to hear about it's the roster because he had his meltdowns and his collapses in the big games in Atlanta and Dallas and now in Washington why would you want him back that's just like taking one step to get better and then quitting rehab and now you walk with a limp no we need to fix both legs not just one..

We don't need another Dallas Cowboy who while somewhat successful here failed in the big games to bring him back again no retreat in that manner that's what happened with that eberfpoo and even Mike Zimmer I mean Mike Zimmer was better than Matt but these guys came back and failed..

Hey this is like the relationships where people break up for good reasons and they backslide sometimes more than once and then they realize after a little while, why they broke up...:muttley: just because it feels comfortable, doesn't make it right...

What's crazy ,you guys are so injured and upset at Matt, that you can't see straight, you would allow Dan Quinn to come back, no I don't want him back...

You think about somebody that can do multiples, like they talk about somebody with not a big ego, who's willing to take a roster and build a defense around it, not force schemes onto a roster, and say well I just don't have enough players.

We don't have a list right now, you're right, but going back to last year, I was even thinking why isn't Brian Flores being considered, that was my number one guy I thought of to come here, it made sense....

I'm Betting we can go back to last year and put together the list, if you find the old posts about who we thought maybe Schottenheimer were bringing in as a DC, and just that list is the same again, it did not have Matt Eberflus's name on it, I'm betting..

But like people have said above they're like Jim Schwartz this is what the Eagles did you need to get an aggressive guy or a guy willing to do multiples that can do most anything necessary to build a defense to match his roster that's what we're missing here...

:muttley::lmao:

Al Harris should have never been allowed out of the Cowboys facility without a promotion and new contract.
You say that now but we still don't know how he'd be as a first time DC why didn't Dave Quinn bring him to Washington instead made the other guy who people thought here would be a good DC and he's not doing very well either. Literally so many guys that the fans have thought were gonna be great You know the other guy from Seattle I can't remember his name He was great with the tall long lengthy corners and what not they thought he was gonna be a great DC he was not and again the guy that was here under Dan Quinn he elevated him not AI he did not even bring AI in as his DB coach or assistant head coach why is that why are they so close and he's not on Washington staff?

I think sometimes the fans get it in their head who could be great and not just because it's familiarity and I just not buying it... Has he had potential shore but we've never seen him do it I think I'd rather have someone proven but yeah I mean anything right now is better than Matt and that's why I think people are throwing out names but I I'm just very curious of why he's not with Dan Quinn if Dan Quinn valued him so much why is he not on that step instead of Joe Witt or both?

fans just love to recycle.

Al Harris: im not the coaching type.

our fans: DUDE WOULD ROCK IT IN DALLAS.

Jerry Jones: im not interested in a Super Bowl

our fans: Jerry wants another Super Bowl.

HC: Dak is a better qb.

our fans: Kellen Moore will replace Dak. Will Greir will replace Dak, heck some dude in the stands, better than Dak.

I dont expect original thinking, most on here deliver.

I don’t think that but it’s a huge mistake if he isn’t.
Will waste another window of winning opportunity….
First off there is no window of winning. This team is going to be just good enough to be average. That's how it is built. Built to win just enough but built to not win too much.

I'm still flabbergasted as to why we let him go. Maybe he wanted to be the DC or go somewhere else, and Jerry was dead set on Uberfluke.

I understand what you're saying but everywhere Al Harris goes, those defenses are tops in getting turnovers. Thats not about what fans think, thats a reality.

I understand your points though.

Why are we going to replace a defensive coordinator whom everyone rags on as not understanding the X and Os well enough with a coach who has admitted that X and Os are not his thing?

Solution is to bring in defensive talent. Make any Coach look good.

- Re-sign the key Offensive free agents. They are deep enough, so spend entire draft on defense.
- Spend in free agency. Have to find your Pickens and Javonte on D-Side, not just O.
- Avoid all these injury gambles that Jerry loves to throw the dice on in draft on D
- No more first round picks on offensive line. They have enough, they need to sink or swim.
- Since Cowboys have shown they're not great at drafting good defensive linemen with high picks, I would look at trading a future first round pick for a guy like Maxx Crosby who might be available.

Tips: Don't trade your best defender (right no it would be Quinnen) the week before the season begins. Just a suggestion.
Great comments, point by point.

I personally believe the Bears defensive success has more to do with Dennis Allen than anything else. He creates strong defensive game plans but he struggled as a head coach when he had to manage both sides of the ball.

Everything Al Harris did, Dennis Allen did first and did better. He’s terrific at coaching DBs. Al is a great addition to executed Allen’s plans.

Dennis Allen is the type of DC we need to find.

I wouldn't be opposed to this move at all.

But, I don't see the owner and his son making the move for Harris. They seem to like DCs with former HC experience.

Weren't there rumors or whispers that the FO thought Harris was too player friendly? Can't remember. Even if that is true they should interview him. Schotty is considered a player friendly coach as well.
Well then hire Al Harris as your secondary coach/ assistant defensive coordinator. Let Schottenheimer hire him, after he hires his new aggressive defensive coordinator for the 26 season

Al Harris should be on the Cowboys radar as DC!

Was Jerry Jones' radar on the fritz for four straight years? Was Al Harris so far underwater when he was on Jones' coaching staff that his sonar didn't detect him? This may be worst than Jones needing to interview Brian Schottenheimer twice after being on Jones' payroll for three years.

Harris was on Jones' radar. He likely still is. A better question is why wasn't Harris seriously considered for defensive coordinator, when Jones had the opportunity to evaluate BOTH coaches' qualifications BEFORE hiring Matt Eberflus in the first place?

I read of saw from several Cowboys insiders that Harris is the root cause of Diggs and others entitlement issues. He would let certain players miss practices, workouts and meetings. I know that star players all get preferential treatment. But this contributed to the country club feeling. Now Shotty is trying to clean this stuff up.
