Al Johnson is getting blown up in the middle

I also was afraid he got injured on one of those pushes up the middle....his leg seemed to buckle.

Johnson's play was absolutely disgusting today. The rest of the O-line wasn't much better. Sparano better get his, and their, act together. Right now that unit is the team's weak link.

Been saying that for a while now. Johnson had better improve a lot or he will be in jeopardy of loosing his starting job. RIght now he is a liability at the worst position to be a liability.

Johnson's biggest problems seem to come against the bigger tackles that he faces. Unfortunately, about every DT in the league is going to be big. He's just got to do a little better. Otherwise, he's going to end up in Bill's "hotel".

Don't let the facts (check out what AdamJT has posted) get in the way of a good bashing thread.

When it's all added up, Johnson has been one of the two most consistent lineman on the team.

I thought he only had trouble with massive 3-4 noseguards? Now reg guys are tossing him around? Jeez.

If you saw the game and previous games it is obvious; he gets pushed around too easy and it will cost us if it continues.

He is getting driven back a few times erased the witten TD because he had to hold

if we fumble one more snap, i'm gonna hurt someone.

Al Johnson is doing a very good impression of Clay Shiver this year.
That was the first guy that came to mind when I saw Johnson getting thrown backwards. We need to throw Gurode in there and just hope he can stay focused. Attitude/focus problems are one thing, but being physically overmatched is entirely different and can't be solved through coaching.

The only thing that's obvious is that you want to blame the wrong person. Adams has played poorly all season, Allen is a shell of his former self and Pettiti has made his share of rookie mistakes.

If you Tivo'd the game, go back and watch it again, focusing solely on the O-line. Johnson is playing at an above average level.

Might need to look there in the draft.

Only problem is that we have been whiffing there since BP on the day one picks - Al Johnson, Jacob Rogers and Steven Peterman - make you sick? It should. Other teams get better performances from mail carriers they pick up off of the street.

Not a single OL is playing well on this team consistently. Pettiti is doing okay considering he is a rookie and has changed positions.

The only question is how do we improve. We try the draft and get nothing. We try FA and get nowhere. We change coaches and get nowhere.

Agree to disagree; we are watching two different games.

This is about the time when Adam chimes in with the AJ stats. Hey Adam! We need you!!! Please make us feel better about Al. PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!

A great quote from the Stand, "Things fall apart when the center doesn't hold", teams will start to key on pressuring Bledsoe up the middle. Today it resulted in a "int" that could easily been a TD had Drew had room to step into his throw. I hope this isn't a precursor of things to come.

This thread is laughable. I just re-watched the entire game and focused on Johnson on every offensive play. (By the way, he played EVERY snap at center for the second consecutive game.) Johnson had ONE bad play -- when he got his feet tangled up and was tripped, pulling the linebacker down with him (the penalty that wiped out Witten's second TD catch). Johnson had a few other mediocre plays, but nothing that created a bad result for the offense. And this was his best game so far in pass protection. He hasn't allowed a sack all season, but he usually has two or three plays per game when he gets driven back into the pocket while pass blocking. But that never happened today, and he was using better leverage than I've noticed him using so far.

Seriously, this is getting ridculous. The perception in here is nowhere close to reality.
