I agree Rivera has not played up to his potential but what does that have to do with Johnson? All one has to do it watch the game (sober would help) and can easily see Johnson getting pushed around and center is an area you can't afford getting pushed around. I have not hollered about Johnson being benched but I do know he better step up his play because it has not been very good.

Oh I plan to watch it again, but don't discount my observation skills just because I was intoxicated. Johnson looked solid to me, and Adam seems to concur, so what's the problem? He got pushed around? If he's so terrible, where's Gurode? Why would Purcells leave Johnson in there if he was struggling and playing horribly? Are you guys implying that you are better talent evaluators than the coaching staff?

This is not about Gurode. I watched as he has been getting pushed back and guys going past him. As far as talent evaluators go, I'm just saying what I have seen from him and not saying any other player on our team would have done better but it does not change the fact he got his butt pancaked and was called for holding on the same play that cost the team a TD. I also know that Parcells has been switching between the 2 centers and if Johnson was playing at a high level Parcells would not be going back and forth.

Johnson was tripped on that play, pulling the linebacker down on top of him as he fell. It's not his fault he got tripped. It just happens sometimes.

Johnson has played every snap for the past two games, so Parcells isn't going back and forth anymore.

Exactly.

Johnson played the entire game yesterday and in Philly. I'm just saying if he was doing badly, I'd think we'd see Gurode being rotated in, but that's not the case.

I'll just say he needs to step his game up because again this is not about being better that Gurode it is about doing the job and an O-line can't afford weakness up the middle.

It doesn't take a football savant to see that Al Johnson struggles at the point of attack. Unfortunately, it's something we are seeing on a regular basis. And judging by what we see on gameday, Andre Gurode's inability to get on the field has a lot more to do with his own shortcomings than anything Johnson is doing to hold that spot down.
