No need. He'll provide good depth.

I'd rather have Gurode as backup Center vs Tyson Walter.

Nors, you just disregarded what BP said about Gurode,HUH?

He said that he has alot of confidence in him. Now may be it is just my perception but I'll go out on a limb and say that, Al got the start but he is not a better Center than Gurode, I have seen AL in the backfield a lot in every preseason game.

Yes he wins his share of battles but far too often he gets pushed into the backfield, and as soon as that happens during the regular season, BP will pull him and insert Andre.

I'm not hating on Al not one bit, he is a good center he is just too light for some NG's and that may be the reason he got the start this game because SD may not have a NG that can push him around.
I feel like AL is a Parcells type of player and that is why he got the start, (loyalty) from BP, and I think BP has it in his mind to gradually move him out of the starting spot and insert Gurode, unless like I said earlier AL gets pushed around this first game, then that process will be sped up immediately.

Gurode is the better Center of the two, he is a load, and once he really gets back into the swing of things he will take that Center spot and not relinguish it, and Al will become the starting longsnapper and back up C, G, Tackle if need be, and maybe H-back too.

Oh, starting on a BP football team, is not a real big deal because if you are good, whether you start or not you will get plenty of PT.

If that was true, Gurode would start against SD and their monster NT Jamal Williams.

Labor day weekend, life is good.

Guess I'll be having some crow this weekend. All in all though, I'm glad Dre's providing something at C. I think the depth and rotation will really help as the season goes.

Congrats on another call Nors (gulp)

I think that Gurode has pushed AL big time to improve, which is definitly of the good.
BUT he is going to have to prove that he can handle the big nose guards or Gurode will be in there. It seems that AL is quicker and is better in space, while Guorde isbetter at muscling in tight quarters. I would not be suprised by the end of the season to see them splitting time by GUrode playing against the 3-4 and AL against the 4-3.

AlJ and the Oline rocked 1st quarter.

Our starting unit is intact and I sense Dre gets "limited" PT. He's a valuable backup at C/G - Its better that last year starters right side of line are now BACKUPS.

Rivera, Petitti is a breath of fresh air and AlJ is the QB of the Oline.

Gurode will see plenty of time, he's done too much to be kept on the bench, and Parcells already said that, so...

He said that last year at C - it never happened.....

Al J is bigger than Jets All Pro Center Mawaia (sp) a Parcells guy

Al J is our starting center for a decade.

Well it should help his longevity that he'll be rotating out of games for Gurode.
