To be completely candid here, I've never regarded Green as one comparable to the talent offered by the rest of the OL. By far, the primary hope that I hold for him is for him to to stay healthy throughout the year until we can draft another RT capable of being a healthy and capable starter.

I see Green as possibly being better suited to serve as a backup. His lack of durability doesn't appear worthy of a starter. As far as his overall performance is concerned, I think we'll get a much better idea what he's capable of once the upcoming season is in the books.
That's a bit of a high standard considering that Martin, Fred and Tyron are All-Pro.

Green was terrific in 2 starts a LT last season. He was good enough that most people either don't remember or never realized that Tyron missed 2 games in the middle of the season.

Green was better in those 2 starts than Doug Free in his best ever game and I've watched all snaps that Free played at least 10 times each.

How positive would you feel about him if he continues to miss as many games has he already has due to injury? He has had these problems throughout his college career and it has been his calling card throughout his stay with the Cowboys. The guy should be able to have an ongoing presence of performing at some point, otherwise he isn't doing the team any favors whatsoever.

I wouldn't have any objection at all to keeping him in tow indefinitely if he were to prove he's able to help the team for a reasonable period of time. He hasn't done so, despite this team's patience thus far. I don't think it's expecting too much for the Cowboys nor myself to want someone who has the necessary durability to play more than a few games without becoming unavailable for long stretches of time.

If he's able to perform in the future and demonstrate the ability to perform well without being disabled for long stretches, I'll welcome him to stay as long as his heart (and yours) desires. I'd be willing to bet the Cowboys would as well. Even Free was at least available to offer his help. That's not something that seems like expecting too much, nor being too high of a standard to me.
