Jaylon is getting wrecked. He can't shed a block to save his life. It's concerning when a man of his size is thrown around like a rag doll.
You do realize that any 240 lb LBer would be thrown around by an NFL caliber 6 foot 7 Inch 333 Pound Offensive Tackle with a running start?
No LB ever would out muscle the laws of physics. His only chance was with speed and since Jaylon knew he had hep on the right side he took the left position to lead Gurley into the side of the field with defensive support.
It was a fine play by Jaylon.

Thanks for the review. I dont know why Beasley isnt getting the ball more. Hes been such a great weapon for us. Im not a Dez hater by any means but our offense has looked like it did last year when Dez first came back. Weve gone away from Beasley and forced the ball to Dez. It didnt work last year and its not working this year either. Ive heard its because defenses have taken Beasley out of the game but if he was doubled only twice in the first half what exactly is happening?

It doesn't add up to me.

First, defense are loading up the box to stop the run.

Then they're doubling Dez on the outside.

Now they're doubling Beasley inside.

When did they start letting our opponents play with 13 guys?

They are using ALOT of 12 personnel which is limiting his plays. On times he was singled, Dak was either sacked or it went to TWill/Dez.

There was a great combo route he ran with Witten that got Beas open underneath but that was play Dez got open on right sideline.

It does seem like that doesn't it.
We can see the defenses crashing the box and defenders from every position sharing time in our backfield.... yet Witten and Beasley are invisible. Dez seems to have a safety with him most of the time. There has to be something somewhere with a mismatch. Unless our play calling has become so stale and predictable that the defensive coordinators around the league know exactly which play we are going to run every time.

I certainly don't rule that out!
:lmao:

It's not like we haven't been hearing stories about how predictable our schemes have been for years.

I'm a Dak guy and not a fan of Dez(never have been), but Dak put too much on the pass.

At 6:10, Daks beautiful over the shoulder throw to Williams is the type of pass he needed to hit Bryant with Softly split the defenders. Not the easiest pass in the world.

First pass of the clip, isn't that the throw that will unleash Elliot and the running game? The throw that defenses are daring Dak to make?

That TD to Dez is such fools gold. You can't make a living off such a garbage route.

More Butler, More Williams

Something like 12 attempts to Dez and 5 catches.... Definite work needed there. Agree on using Beasley. Better to get some yards, than lose the down on 7 incompletes

What's it going to be then, eh?

With a 280lb 1-tech, is it any wonder this defense is getting gashed by the run?

They're getting very little from either of their starting DT's. Both have been disappointing. I kept hearing good things about Paea in the preseason, but I haven't seen it in the games that count. And everything pointed to Maliek Collins taking that next step and thus far he's been a huge disappointment.
Impossible.

Collins is as good as Warren Sapp was early in his career. Learned that right here.

Hey, I'm probably the guy that said it!

Fact is that Collins' rookie numbers were better. I had really high hopes for this guy and truly felt he was about to take that next step. I thought he would be the best player on our defensive line. I have no idea what happened to that guy.

The guy I'm seeing looks heavy. Heavier than he should be. And he doesn't look like the same guy. Too often looking lost out there, and getting pushed around and washed out of plays way too much.

He looks too heavy and the nose tackle look way too light.

Yeah, because a MLB never has to take on blocks from offensive linemen. smh

Collins is on pace for 10 sacks this year. He also had a stuff in the Rams game.

Are you saying he's playing well?

I'm saying he's on pace for 10 sacks from the 3 tech position. Everybody else can decide how much pressure they were expecting from that position and whether or not '10' is a good pace.

But I have no issue with the play of either Collins or Lawrence on the DL so far this season. Mayowa can't contain the run and it's hurting us, but our primary issues on defense have been LBs who can't cover and S's who are taking wrong angles, falling down, and not wrapping up. The pressure has actually been good.

I'll say that "10" doesn't look like a "pace" at all. It looks like 2 sacks against a lousy guard from the Cardinals and little else.

I won't argue Mayowa, the guy shouldn't be out there because he sells out to rush the passer and doesn't keep his responsibilities. But both Collins and Paea are allowing way too much room in the running game too.

He had a half sack in the Giants game, too. 10 sacks is a ton of pressure from that position. And he's on pace to basically double his production from last season for tackles (almost), assisted tackles, and sacks. I know his pressure is one reason teams are having a hard time keying on Lawrence. I haven't noticed him getting gashed in the running game, but maybe there have been some big plays given up that were his responsibility. Prior to the Rams game, though, I haven't heard anybody with anything negative to say about him to get my antenna up. My ire for the run defense has been for Mayowa and for the missed tackles. Especially in that Denver game and in the 2nd half this week.

Dez needed to take another step forward before jumping. His jump was early. The technique should be for the WR to drive that extra step towards to DB; otherwise, the DB has the advantage.

The ball was lofted in the air. The WR has to judge it similar to a punt.

Jaylon made a mental mistake. He got outside the blocker. We don't know from that play if he physically can or can't take on the block because he didn't give himself a chance to do it.

That was a poor throw to Dez. If he leads it to the center of the field it's Dez' ball.
