All-22 1st half review

Hey I just got through the first half of the All-22 review and here's some thoughts from the GOOD half of the game.

1) Aaron Donald was a wrecking machine. Everywhere he went he disrupted the line and Cooper was way over matched. Cooper was decent straight ahead but is not cut out for a zone scheme.

2) Lawrence was NOT double teamed (at least in 1st half) the majority of the half. A couple times a TE lined up to make him go wider but mostly he was just not beating 1 on 1s with the RT or TE. He also got tired easy.

3) Jaylon had way too much responsibility this game. He was not able to both line up the defense and do his job.

4) Beasley was doubled twice in first half and both were good results for Cowboys. 1st was sideline pass to Elliott and second was TD to Butler.

That's a really important piece. There was a reason why the staff had a plan to bring him along in a certain way.

He had a half sack in the Giants game, too. 10 sacks is a ton of pressure from that position. And he's on pace to basically double his production from last season for tackles (almost), assisted tackles, and sacks. I know his pressure is one reason teams are having a hard time keying on Lawrence. I haven't noticed him getting gashed in the running game, but maybe there have been some big plays given up that were his responsibility. Prior to the Rams game, though, I haven't heard anybody with anything negative to say about him to get my antenna up. My ire for the run defense has been for Mayowa and for the missed tackles. Especially in that Denver game and in the 2nd half this week.

Mayowa has certainly been worse.

EXACTLY....you lead this away from the defender, not to him
This thread proves to me that no amount of evidence changes people's preconceived notions.

Look at this scene:

Without looking at the next pic, imagine where a good throw would end up

No matter how little you know about football, I doubt you'd pick this spot to give the receiver the best shot at catching the pass:

This isn't on Dez.

The left upper section of the "Y" would have been the appropriate spot.

With a 280lb 1-tech, is it any wonder this defense is getting gashed by the run?

They're getting very little from either of their starting DT's. Both have been disappointing. I kept hearing good things about Paea in the preseason, but I haven't seen it in the games that count. And everything pointed to Maliek Collins taking that next step and thus far he's been a huge disappointment.

But remember that we don't need a big body in the middle

We just don't

When's the second half coming out? Thanks for your work

Thanks for the review. I dont know why Beasley isnt getting the ball more. Hes been such a great weapon for us. Im not a Dez hater by any means but our offense has looked like it did last year when Dez first came back. Weve gone away from Beasley and forced the ball to Dez. It didnt work last year and its not working this year either. Ive heard its because defenses have taken Beasley out of the game but if he was doubled only twice in the first half what exactly is happening?
Defenses are starting to double Beasley because it's easy to single cover Dez.

The ball was lofted and Dez had time to adjust. Punt returners adjust to punts.

It's too bad there are no simulation tools to show what could have happened if Dez adjusted. Everything would have looked differently.

Remember Dak threw the ball long before Dez was in the endzone.

The ball is in the air on that first pic.

This is terrible analysis.

I think the OP said Beas was doubled twice in the first half, seems like theres still oppurtunity to get him the ball. As another poster stated how do defenses manage to double Beas and Dez while stacking the box lol?

They don't. The enemy is forcing Prescott to throw deeper. That's presently viewed as his weakness.
