Last Sunday, FOX's Jay Glazer reported that a fire sale could be coming in Oakland, with the Raiders willing to move any player except the young, talented ones.

So are there any?

The talk in league circles is that the only sacred cow is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who is incredibly talented but at 28 is hardly young by NFL standards.

The rest of them are fair game -- presumably even defensive end Richard Seymour, who arrived earlier this year for a 2011 first-round pick.

Browns won't be trading Joe Thomas

There has been a surprising amount of fan speculation that the Browns are willing to trade left tackle Joe Thomas.

Possibly sparked by the fan speculation, some league insiders have been to take the possibility seriously.

Per multiple league sources, it's highly unlikely to happen.

For starters, we're told that coach Eric Mangini "loves" Thomas (not in that way -- but that possibility would have made for a compelling episode of Playmakers . . . not that there's anything wrong with it).

More importantly, there's typically only one way to get a 10-year left tackle: through the first round of the draft. Few teams that have one will be willing to give him up -- especially when he's only in the third year of his contract.

That said, any player could be had for the right offer. To get Thomas, however, someone would have to absolutely blow the Browns away, possibly with a Herschel Walker-type package of picks and/or players.

Saw on BSPN, (excuse me one second...:ralph: , ok, better now), that the Bills should/are considering trading TO. One possible landing spot was the Bears.

Raiders:

Darrius Heyward-Bey
Johnny Lee Higgins
Kirk Morrison
Samson Satele

Browns:

Joshua Cribbs

Looking at the Browns roster how are they even considered a NFL Team

I wouldnt trade a bag of peanuts for Heyward-Bey. I think somebody pointed out on NFL network that he actually has mroe drops than catches.

Would love to try and move Carp for Seymour. Might have to throw in Coakley though.

Yeah silly idea, throw away the idea of acquiring a ROOKIE wr with athleticism and speed to burn. If he has not improved by now he never will.

If I were Jerry I would call Al and see what he would send us in return for Carpenter.

Craig

I would take Louis Murphy. He's gonna be a star if he somehow gets on a real football team.

Exactly.. What happened to "give these rookies 3 years to acquit themselves" line of thought?

Hopefully

He only has two receptions. Considering the monstrosity that is throwing him the ball, that is to be expected.

I wouldn't go as far as this, BUT:

a) If " some " people are complaining about Roy Williams' contract and him not living up to it ( less than a full season into the trade ), what's going to be the criticism about Heyward-Bey ? And he IS a rookie, meaning it's going to take more time for him to develop.

b) What do you do with Miles Austin ? Put him back on the bench again ? Because if you're going to acquire somebody like Heyward-Bey, making the money that he's making, plus the price it's going to take to get him, you sure as hell are not going to have him sitting on the bench, right ?

Goes back to the same Matt Jones/you name the latest fad receiver available, problem. You get those guys in here, the chances of watching Miles Austin, who they've spent money AND time developing, having another breakout game are zilch.

Here's an idea: How about giving a chance to what you already have on the roster, which has been through training camps, OTA's, off season workouts, team meetings, position meetings, BEFORE you get somebody else ? Yea, I know, it's a novel concept around this parts, but it's worth trying.

I mean, over the past two games, the #4 and #3 WR receivers ( in that order ) on this team have made big plays when, simply, given the chance to.
