All reactions are understandable

After so many years of disappointment, I am really ambivalent when it comes to post-season expectations for the Cowboys each season.

I enjoy the journey now more than I have in the past because I accept that the odds are against the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl no matter the pre-season predictions, the regular season record and the post-season seeding.

Every team that makes the post-season but one will have their season end in a loss, so better to enjoy the wins along the way than wait for a season-ending loss.
Could not agree more. I truly began enjoying the sport and college and NFL seasons when it became about each game, the journey, not the destination.

I look at making the playoffs as additional games of high interest whereas at one time I looked at that as a given. Of course the Cowboys will be in the playoffs. That's what 20 winning seasons in a row will do to a fan. The only question was how far would they go?

Now, anything beyond 17 is a bonus. The one idea I do not subscribe to is anything can happen in the playoffs because it usually doesn't. And now with one team having the advantage of one less game and additional healing and rest, I think it's wired.

One thing the large majority of us share is surprise at being 10-4 and 3 up with 3 to play in the division. We assumed the division would be poor but how many really thought the Cowboys would win it with games to spare?

And for the first time in a very long time, I do not look at the defense as the liability in the playoffs, the offense having to score more just to stay even.

The offense is a concern and it's not as easy as just flipping the switch because it has problems on the OL and TE blocking that will affect the run game in the playoffs. However, I am not sure we've seen how good this defense can be and since there are no shut down defenses, having the most opportunistic one is the next best thing.

What a surprise season. 10-4 and that's really because of the defense. Who'd a thunk it? Not me.

Exactly. We can fuss and discuss on this forum all we want. As long as we keep it from devolving into name calling and finger pointing at each other. The varying opinions are what makes this place go.
yeah that works in here. lmao like never.

Always set your goals high. For me, the goal is to compete with the best teams in the NFC and beat them. When I look at this Cowboys team right now, particularly the QB and offense, I do not see a team that can put up the points they will need to beat the Packers and the Bucs. I know the defense is much improved but facing top offenses they are not going to shut them out for 60 minutes. Holding them under 20 points is a great expectation. That means the offense needs to score more than 20 points even if the defense can't generate 4 turnovers.

When you look at the many threads today on our forum you see a vast range of reactions to the 10-4 Dallas Cowboys sitting atop the NFC East and with the NFC’s #2 seed- and all of them are understandable:
  • Some Cowboys fans are happy despite the sub par play of Dak and the offense.
  • Some Cowboys fans are completely down on the team because of its inconsistency.
  • Some are hopeful.
  • Some are doubtful.
But it’s all understandable. This great fan base has been through a quarter century of disappointment and disillusionment.

When this team flirts with success, it’s understandable that some fans feel dread because they fear more disappointment may be coming and go negative. While others can only handle positivity because thinking of another year of failure does not allow them to tolerate any negativity.

Wherever you are as a fan on that spectrum, try to be understanding of those who aren’t reacting as you are. Both reactions are understandable.

Go Cowboys!

maybe. But agendas tend to drive what people post rather than fear of disappointment

New Orleans 9
Tampa Bay 0

In TB,

With a good D, anybody can be got.

I tend to trust coaches who have been through it before. I tend to trust coaches who have won a Super Bowl before. Call me naïve, that's just how I roll.

Right!!! if Garrett was still the HC, I would have a much diferent feeling going into the playoffs..

MM has won a superbowl with a legit coaching staff .,

Kellen is being exposed and its not good for this team.

Hate to agree but this is the unfortunate truth and he has shown it multiple times this year...it's going to cost us a game at the worst time
Twice he CHOSE to go for 3 against teams he knew we would beat, it wasn't mismanaged.....it was a choice. You can disagree with that if you want.

Here's my thoughts...
If we secure #1 seed, we are going to the Super Bowl.
Anything else is a crapshoot.
