Always something to complain about

Some fans always find something to complain about.

I've done my fair share of complaining about SS Roy Williams, an OL that isn't dominant, a kickoff coverage team that doesn't get down the field, and a defense that didn't play like they really wanted to hit anyone for a few weeks. Keith Davis still scares me, but he's playing better than I hoped, the OL is so much better when Proctor isn't on the field, the defense has made a total turn-around and is making some big hits, and the coverage team was really solid today.

But come on guys....what's not to like lately? One week, people complain we don't take enough downfield shots...this week we complain that we didn't throw shorter passes. One week we complain because we try to run too much...another week we don't run enough.

There is another team out there. SF played about as well as they can today. They beat the living crap out of the Rams last week and came in with a little confidence. Like our defense, they loaded up to stop our run game...Singletary is old school and knows you win by running and stopping the run.

With 8 men in the box, yes, it was damn hard to run the ball and get everyone blocked, but the offense held up pretty well and kept running, and we didn't get hit in the backfield much. Having that many guys up short meant the place to attack was deep, and that's what we did.

Washington wanted to take away our receivers and did a pretty good job of that, but they didn't dream we could run the ball down their throats. SF decided not to have the ball run down their throats (which had been a weakness), so they were vulnerable deep. You take what the defense gives you.

Our defense played great today for most of the game.

This was a great win, stringing two together and gaining in more confidence.

All we need now is to blast Seattle on T-Day, and we'll have a week and a half to get ready for the Steelers. I believe the key to that game will be solid special teams and protecting the football. Our defense can take advantage of their OL...we should be hitting Rothlesberger a lot (just about everyone has), and we can stop their running game. I think their defense is even more dangerous than their offense, and we must not turn the ball over.

Patience can result in a win in Pittsburgh. I'd run TNew with Hines all day like he did with Moss, and I'd make sure there's safety help behind their deep threat, Washington (I think).

Let's enjoy the victory guys...from a season on the brinks of total disaster, we are now 7-4, waiting on Thanksgiving, and getting better every week.

Go Cowboys :star:

By the way, my wish list for the offseason: 1-2 OGs, NT, SS, ILB, in any order.

Solid post.

This team is improving every week. The offense is showing it can adjust and that's a credit to coaching.

The defense is getting loads of pressure recently. Hill was getting smacked almost every dropback if I remember correctly. The pressure is getting there and will force premature throws and bad decisions (the deep Delhomme-esque prayer being the exception)

The special teams is the only facet that still really hasn't shown consistent improvement. This may be the area that could trip this team up down the stretch, but if the offense makes each possession count and the defense continues to strengthen and pressure the QB, things will get better as the weeks go on.

Seattle is next.

This team needs to play every week like their back is against the wall as they have since last week.

We've played pretty damn well the last few weeks.

SF is a pretty good team. They lose alot of games because they can't get into the end zone.

They have a good defense, so it wasn't surprising that we had some struggles on offense.

I felt our coverage units were great today...on kickoffs, we were really down there and had them boxed in all game. Folk kicked one out of bounds, that's on him, and we missed a couple of tackles on that final return, but I really liked seeing guys down there and breaking down for a change...I thought we were much better today.

Why does it have to be referred to as "Complaining"?

Why can't it just be pointing out a fact or expressing one's opinion?

Some people always have to complain about the perceived "Complaining".

Not so much complaining, just some things we need to clean up. 1) Penalties, as always. Way too many today, although some (the roughing the QB calls were poor calls). 2) We didn't finish drives today and settled for too many field goals. We should've had two more TDs. It didn't hurt us today, but will if we keep it up. 3) Inconsistent special teams play. We made some good plays today, but we also allowed several good runbacks. 4) Run offense was not good, but the San Fran stacked the line and gambled that Romo wouldn't beat them. Unfortunately for them, it came up snake eyes. All in all a good performance, but not a great one.

I'm happy, because there shouldn't be any T.O. threads this week.

Or at least not that many:p:

our coverage completely sucked in the 1st quarter....however, we gave up zero TDs. I like how we then adjusted and basically shut down the SF offense until midway through the 4th quarter.

I am more upset about the Zona game...we had that game.....The Rams completely beat us down like we were a white boxer.

It's not complaining when it's based in fact, like our penalties, our lack of passion for a month, no backup QB, losing games we should have won.

It's complaining when you gripe about not getting the ball downfield, not taking shots, keeping it all underneath, and then the next week you win with all the long throws (like yesterday) and complain, "doesn't Garrett know it's okay to throw 10 yard passes...why does it always have to be the big play."

There's plenty to complain about when guys don't play well or the game plan doesn't work, but when the offense takes what the defense gives it and wins handily, it seems like complaining to me to gripe about how we went about winning....just my opinion because no one gripes more than I when the team doesn't give great effort.

so true :laugh2:

a lot of message board whiners don't want to hear other people express their ideas or concerns (i.e complaints)

especially after a win. Some of you celebrate a home victory vs 3-8 team like a playoff or superbowl win. Good for you, just don't demand that of others.

Agreed. NO turnovers to the Pitt defense will be key. Pitt's OL isn't what is was in the past. As long as our front 7 shows up and we don't turn the pigskin over, we can and will beat them.

Spot on Rack.

This team still has some issue it needs to work out before I consider them a "Super Bowl" contender because afterall, that was what they were billed as when the season first started.

We beat a team that is not going to the Playoffs in a solid fashion. Congratulations, it was a great win but let's continue to improve and take it one game at a time.

I prefer to call it crying.

I mean adults should understand you don't get everything exactly as you like.

Whining and moaning about every little thing just makes everyone miserable.

Enjoy life and the victories, don;t try to turn those into defeats as well.

I think we'd all agree we need to continue to improve.

But we can't win a Super Bowl today so don't need to be in Super Bowl form today. All the Cowboys could do yesterday was win one game and that they did. The losing to St. Louis should have taught us to just appreciate the wins instead of turning everyone into some sort of zygote whinebot that demands robotic excellence.

This team is still not healthy, still not jelling in all areas and still not the best it can be but we were this time last season and that got us no where.

I disagree.

December is a few weeks away. We need to start peaking and playing our best football.

Unlike the 49ers, Pittsburgh and New York will provide a great test to see where we are.

Furthermore, mentioning the St. Louis loss is very misleading as we didn't have Tony Romo.

Also, if you want to see Whinebots, just check out the Gameday threads when the Cowboys were lethargic on Offense yesterday or when we were down 7-0 against the Commanders last week.
