Am I off base with a theory I have on Jerry Jones?

I’ve been trying to make sense of everything since the Green Bay loss—both the product on the field and the way Jerry has been running things. It’s been clear for years that incompetence has been a constant, but what I’m seeing now feels intentional.

Think about last season: we win 11 games, and then in free agency, Jerry doesn’t spend a dime. Not a single dollar. This was the perfect year to address the running back position, yet the same team that spent over $10 million on Tony Pollard refused to bring in a guy like Mixon, Henry, or Barkley—or even draft a running back. This is the same organization that’s been accused of overpaying for RBs in the past, yet now, when the rest of the league is valuing the position more than ever, they choose to sit tight. They didn’t even re-sign Pollard. The team that supposedly “loves their guys” let their running back walk in favor of a player with one foot out the door of the league. This wasn’t a mistake; it was intentional.

Then, Jerry claims they don’t have money to sign anyone because they need to take care of Micah, Dak, and Lamb. But they could’ve locked those guys up earlier to free up cap space, yet they didn’t. Again, this wasn’t a mistake—it was intentional.

Now, let’s talk about Mike McCarthy. Jerry fired him last year, just not literally. You don’t let a coach on a “one-year deal” if you’re serious about keeping him. Coaches who are worth anything won’t work for a dead man walking—they want job security, and that wasn’t going to happen with McCarthy. They set this man up to fail. Wasted a year of our guys prime to insure they would suck this year.

So why not just fire him outright? Because the coach Jerry really wants isn’t interested in coaching this year. He wants to take a year off, rest, and maybe do some TV gigs. That coach is Bill Belichick. He checks all the boxes for Jerry: a retread with rings, someone who can sell to the fans, and most importantly, desperate.

I think what we’re looking at is Belichick as head coach, with Mike Vrabel coming in as defensive coordinator. The league is shifting away from the older retreads and moving toward younger minds like McVay and Shanahan, but as usual, this team is a step behind.

I would think people would have stopped pinning their hopes up on the next available coach coming in based on our three decades of performance. Coaches have come and gone and there is one constant that remains and until that constant is with us nothing will change for this franchise. Belichick was not able to do anything in NE once Tom left. No coach, no matter their resume is not going to be able to do anything with the roaster at hand. If you are not going to be active in the off season, you are going to walk in to these situations especially when the injury bug hits you.

He didn’t fire McCarthy because he’s cheap. He literally told us that a year ago when we said “dead money” to coaches is a real problem.

He doesn’t want to pay a coach to sit on his couch while Jerry has to pay another guy to coach his team.

Jerry isn’t that shrewd.

Im not buying it. Not the guy who waits last minute to spend the most possible money he can on free agents. Not the guy who has had some of the highest paid assistant coaches.

How much would it really cost him for him to fire Mike right now and hand over the job to Zim or Shottenheimer? I’m not buying this……he is this shrewd and has a history of it.

All I know is that Belichick or any other coach dumb enough to take the Dallas hc job will not get us past the div round of the playoffs. And with the current roster, it's fool's gold to think we are even close to competing for the NFC East. Look at this roster. We are not one player away or five or ten and the Jones boys seem content to just count money rather than improve this roster and they are going to suddenly change their philosophy and start giving the hc power. That will never happen.

The biggest issue with your theory is BB would overshadow Jerry. I don't believe his ego could handle that. The rest of your theory makes sense. I can see having a retread ready to take over, but not one with a big personality.

100%.......he is going to let Belichick reset this team with his players and coaches.

Something else about Belichick ........he will take a ton of pressure off Dak coz he doesn't a high-power offense scoring 25-30 points a game. Brady rarely put up 300+ years of passing but you would see 3-4 TD and zero interceptions.

Can definitely see Belichick and Vrabel package.......

I’ll always go with stupidity before a grand scheme that entails a wasted off season coupled with kneecapping ann entire year of football just to land a coach. Jerry is a football buffoon. He doesn’t think that deeply. I think he’s cheap and stupid when it comes to football and he’s affirmed in his opinions by another cheap and stupid person, Stephen.

Now this scenario may unfold, but it will overwhelmingly just be a result of chance imo. Plus, I wouldn’t bet that BB and Vrabel want to come work for Gollum, when they know this jackie will be looking over their shoulder 24/7 AND having to filter every decision through him. BB isn’t that kind of coach.

I am convinced Jerry is loosing it. Age is getting to him. The family needs to intervene at some point.

Belichick hates dealing with the media/spotlight ...........so I'm not sure about this. Especially with the young blonde on his hips......make no mistake, Bro is robbing the cradle with this one (LOL)
True, but the media would gravitate toward him much more than Jerry. If the team turned it around, BB would get all the credit and that would stick in Jerry's craw.

You think so? I don’t think anyone can overshadow Jerry. He’d always be second to Jerry in that regard.

If you can't fine hope anywhere there's no point in showing up. All the off season is hope. That's all we can do at this point. It's that or hibernate until someone leaves his earthly body.
