Am I off base with a theory I have on Jerry Jones?

I’m saying lol…..people can’t think that’s not strange. I get it the guy sucks at his job. But that’s something else.

At this point, I'm trying not to think what Jerry was doing this year. lol
Reset? Maybe, but I feel like a reset should of delayed the contract extensions.

The team went 12-5 3 years in a row. The team could make the dance, but didn't know any moves when the lights hit them in January.
I sort of feel like the FO got arrogant and thought the team could repeat with the same core. Not factoring in the depth losses over the years, loss in established starters and thinking the 23/24 draft classes could make up for it.

Tyron Smith, when healthy, is greatly missed. Biadasz in year 5 is better than Beebe. DE's got the injury bug big time, which is where guys like Armstrong and Fowler could of held the ship better than Lawson and whoever was the other DE while Parsons was out. But, Washington had money to burn and paid them in March. Not stud players, but guys that know the role and can make plays here and there.

To me, the offseason was in limbo to us fans. What's the direction? Then in August/September they finally decide to get serious over Dak and CDL. The rumors of 60mil for Dak was going on all offseason. Not like they needed Lawrence/Love/Tua to sign to determine his deal.

They squandered another offseason to help the team, something they've done for close to a decade now. So, not sure if they were going for a retool/reset. Their MO has been to ignore outside free agents and rely on the drafts. Past few drafts haven't had instant results and they are feeling it, even before the rash of injuries.

If Bill was their end goal, they should of canned McCarthy as soon as Bill was fired. No one would of complained over firing MM after the Green Bay loss.
If it was over the remaining salary owed to MM, then this team will never sniff another championship over penny pinching.

I’ve been trying to make sense of everything since the Green Bay loss—both the product on the field and the way Jerry has been running things. It’s been clear for years that incompetence has been a constant, but what I’m seeing now feels intentional.

Think about last season: we win 11 games, and then in free agency, Jerry doesn’t spend a dime. Not a single dollar. This was the perfect year to address the running back position, yet the same team that spent over $10 million on Tony Pollard refused to bring in a guy like Mixon, Henry, or Barkley—or even draft a running back. This is the same organization that’s been accused of overpaying for RBs in the past, yet now, when the rest of the league is valuing the position more than ever, they choose to sit tight. They didn’t even re-sign Pollard. The team that supposedly “loves their guys” let their running back walk in favor of a player with one foot out the door of the league. This wasn’t a mistake; it was intentional.

Then, Jerry claims they don’t have money to sign anyone because they need to take care of Micah, Dak, and Lamb. But they could’ve locked those guys up earlier to free up cap space, yet they didn’t. Again, this wasn’t a mistake—it was intentional.

Now, let’s talk about Mike McCarthy. Jerry fired him last year, just not literally. You don’t let a coach on a “one-year deal” if you’re serious about keeping him. Coaches who are worth anything won’t work for a dead man walking—they want job security, and that wasn’t going to happen with McCarthy. They set this man up to fail. Wasted a year of our guys prime to insure they would suck this year.

So why not just fire him outright? Because the coach Jerry really wants isn’t interested in coaching this year. He wants to take a year off, rest, and maybe do some TV gigs. That coach is Bill Belichick. He checks all the boxes for Jerry: a retread with rings, someone who can sell to the fans, and most importantly, desperate.

I think what we’re looking at is Belichick as head coach, with Mike Vrabel coming in as defensive coordinator. The league is shifting away from the older retreads and moving toward younger minds like McVay and Shanahan, but as usual, this team is a step behind.
Well youve been wrong about everything else including Garrett love and Dak love so, im guessing……

Hard for me to believe there was no market for one of the greatest coach’s of all time. Sure the game has passed him by but it’s hard for me to see guys like Nick Sirianni coaching in this league but no one wants to give him another chance.
Oh he will get another job. At the time, his stock was a bit down. He was ‘the crotchety old coach that needed Brady’ to win. He had made some very bad personnel decisions. He needed the year off to raise his stock a little.

I’ve been saying this for at least the last 15 years…this organization is always “a day late and a dollar short “
Always. In everything. Look how stupid they handled running back. The rest of the league is on running backs and these guys just still don’t get it after spending so much on RB…..

Only thing I would say is if Belichick wanted to coach per his reputation, Jerry would hate it, as he said he had zero fun when Parcells was here. If Jerry didn't have a massive ego, Jimmy probably stays around with Aikman for a year or two at least before leaving for Florida, and Parcells would have stuck around longer.
if Bill B decides to come here, its as others said, he's kind of taken foot off the gas, partying with this 24 year old girl, and its a short lived thing. My 2 cents.

I don’t disagree. Stock always goes up when you disappear. Best thing guy can do.

To me, Bill would come here for the all times win record. Especially if this is one of his few options. And maybe to show Kraft he messed up.
But will this be early 2000's evil genius Bill? Or a Bill just looking to simply coach for legacy?

Yeah I think he’s in a diffeeent space. I think he’s arrogant and despersfe. He’s going to want to to take over a team with vets on it.

its going to be 1 of 2 guys. Belichick so he can get the record, or Mike Zimmer to keep the status quo, eitehr way, Dallas is done for at least a decade.

I think you are giving him way too much credit for having a plan. He is reactive, not proactive, 100%.

no older coach is passing up an easy coaching gig.

hes never getting aniother chance, he wont be held accountable and doesnt have to put in a lot of work
I mean another chance at what? This seems more like a favor to Jerry to come back. He’s done it all has a ring, he’s rich….he has to want to just rest now then be apart of this.
