Am I wrong about Hurts?

Here we go again.

Took about 10 years and two Super Bowls for Cowboys fans finally to give Eli Manning some credit.

I go with the old Bill Parcells mantra, you are what you are. He continues to win for his team, and also does not fall on his face and let his team lose a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter against the Packers.

I knew Hurts was going to be good because in the Eagles off years, even though we were handily defeating the Eagles, you could tell he did not give up, and kept a level head and held himself accountable. That’s what I want in my quarterback. Fields on the Bears gave me the same impression this year.

My thoughts (not that anyone cares):

1.) Comparing Hurts to TeBow is nuts, he is obviously better (by a lot)
2.) the big thing is the jump he made between last year and this year in his passing game
3.) The eGirls are going to be forced to pay him now, what does this mean for future spots they need to fill (they are on the wrong side of 30 in some key areas)
4.) He runs too much and if he gets injured, what does he become? He is not a pass first kind of player......

I personally don't know what he really is long term, but for anyone to say he is JAG or compare to Tim TeBow, you are kidding yourself.

That said we take care of our own business and none of this matters.

You paying Hurts 45-50 million a season? Let’s see what happens in the playoffs. Hurts was a question mark in offseason and now he is a top flight quarterback.

I had my doubts coming into the season but he’s improved every year he’s been in the league and he’s a great leader. They will absolutely pay him this offseason. How he plays in the playoffs will be a part of the salary calculations but they are going to extend him and they should.

Hurts is not taking a hometown discount. His situation is similar to what Dak went through. The Eagles gave him every advantage. When they pay him the Eagles will have to sacrifice something.

While I'm still hesitant to buy into Hurts long term there is no doubt the rest of the NFL is struggling to find the formula to slow him down this season, and teams are running out of time to find an answer.

The real test for this guy will be what 2023 looks like. We have more run first QBs in the league than ever before and more on the way based on what the top college QBs are showing. Defensive coaches are going to study these offenses closer than they ever have this offseason, no doubt about that. Top teams in both conferences may start to actually align their defenses both personally wise and schematically specifically to stop this guy.

Hurts has to do about as much as Aikman had to do as a QB. But to his credit, his legs are incredible. Everything is an RPO and sometimes they run the RB out of the backfield clearly out the linebacker. Then he just has to beat one other backer for a big gain with his legs and he doesnt it every time.

The guy can barely talk. We had the perfect game plan against him and it worked well. We just didnt have Dak at the time and couldnt score.

Making a decision whether to keep the ball on an RPO is different than making quick decisions in a regular passing offense. They definitely keep it very very simple for him.

Hurts is exponentially better than Tebow. They don’t even belong in the same sentence. Dude ran for 157 last night. That’s extraordinary. 16/28 with 2 TDs and no ints, and he’s getting better. See: Lamar Jackson.

It’s always the same with these guys. If he can avoid getting injured as he continues to improve in the passing game, he’ll be a force for many years. I wish he wasn’t in our division.

Incorrect. Jalen Hurts might not be the most polished passer, but he's lightyears better than Tim Tebow. He was a top 5 QB recruit at Alabama, and flashed solid passing ability there but still had some rawness. OU Hurts was a lot more accurate. In the pros he's at least as good of a passer as Lamar Jackson or Dak imo and has about 75% of Lamar Jackson's legs. Combined that's a top 5 QB.

You have got to get away from the notion that a QB is a big tall guy with a rocket arm. Having less sheen as a passer but speed and escapability with your legs is just another way to skin the cat.

Agreed and the contract is a concern. I’d like them to keep it under 45 per year. Crazy # but in line with current salaries. The Mahomes 10 for 450 is looking like a steal.

not that bad but thing is we are not playing Jhurts, we are playing the eagles and as much as it hurts to say(Pun intended) , they are going to be hard to beat.. our weakness is their strength.

Jhurts upside could be Jackson and his floor is a Kaepernick type. either way they bult team that uses his upside as an advantage, and they are in our way. so, the contact mocking of Hurts is a bit outdated given hes on a team leading the league at 10-1 and they scored like 40...

He is not Mahomes or Allen but is playing very good in this scheme,keeping him in the pocket is still the best way to beat him. Thats not saying he cant pass its just much better than letting him extend plays to a damn good WR core.We have the Dline to do it if they keep thier gaps and play with control.

I think he’s better than Tebow. But the main thing is that they have built a team that maximizes what he does. Just like Baltimore and Jackson. And unlike Arizona and Murray. It remains to be seen if they’ll make it further in the playoffs than Baltimore has.

The problem with that running style is the threat of injury. Hurts took a heck if a shot to the ribs yesterday on a run. Their style of offense doesn’t work as well without a Hurts type at QB.

Hurts is a better pure passer than Tebow but that doesn't mean much. If Hurts ever loses his scrambling ability because of injury his career arc could follow Robert Griffin III.

the same can be said for one Patrick Lavon Mahomes II. He is very much average at best when you take away the scrambling ability, and the 15 second gymnastics routine, and then a wide open tight end for 8 yards

Hurts is way better than we think. They have been an offensive juggernaut all year. Great receiving core. Good RBs. Good OL. Good defense. I despise the Eagles but sadly they are really good.
