Amari cooper was being interviewed by the radio station 105.3. They asked him if this was the best team he’s ever played on and he response was “absolutely, by far actually.”

Broaddus asked him why he felt this way about the team. He mentioned the talented players and depth that we have. My ears perked up when I heard his comments on coaching.

His response: “Coaching for sure. Like with McCarthy one of the things I noticed about him early, everything he does is about winning. He’s not big on the politics, everything he does goes towards winning and that is something I really respect.”

To me this is huge. I don’t care what skip and Shannon, or the media or what some bitter jaded posters on Cowboyszone have to say about McCarthy, hearing a player like Amari give a raving review about the big guy is music to my ears. Examples I can think of are Collins not getting his job back as soon as his suspension was over. Conner Williams getting benched and then getting it back after 4 games of trying out McGovern. Cutting Jaylon smith and his albatross of a contract. McCarthy is looking for winners, not playing the politics game. This team has potential to be special and I love it!

I agree with Amari.

I would be very curious about what Coop meant when he used the term “politics”. I can imagine he was referring to the whole Jones circus but not sure. Good to know he sees Big Mac as putting winning first.

I would think Garrett. I would not be surprised if Garrett had an inner circle of players and coaches and the team was managed through them.

i never understood people being angry over having McCarthy

all people do is talk about him and clock management thats it.....and yes his clock management could be better but overall hes done a fantastic job

the man gets his teams to win....and how many games have we won in the past during an offensive slump? McCarthy had us on a winning streak while the offense looked horrible

To me, the comments don't mean much at this point. He hated the Raiders and opted to stay with the Cowboys even though he would have made more money with the WFT. I mean, what's he going to say? The Cowboys have a winning record whereas last year, they didn't. Anyone can offer an answer as to why the Cowboys are winning now versus last year.

i think it’s a reference to Garrett. I remember when Dez left he talked about the “Garrett Guys” that had special treatment with the staff, namely Sean Lee and Witten. It makes sense when remembering that Witten retired came back a year later and instantly was a starter. Seems McCarthy doesn’t engage in that favoritism stuff, if you can ball you are gonna play.

It is rep from Green Bay. Many think he should have won more SBs with Rodgers.

let’s use a little common sense brother. Losing your franchise qb, 4/5 of your starting oline, a crap ton of injuries on defense, and trying to virtually install a completely new defense over email and zoom will do that to a team….

....Could be very right on this. Dez pointed that out with his remarks. Garrett was probably using his status as advantage on players.

Love hearing this, coincides with a lot of the things we heard about the Garrett era. Dude was just happy to have a job.

How does that negate what I said?
He very well may be telling the truth. I don't doubt it.
But it's almost a water is wet comment. I don't put that much stock in it.

I think he's talking about the meritocracy. You don't start because if your contract or position within the organization and so on. Also MM being able to admit mistakes and move forward rather than die on that hill. It's just about winning, not ego.

no active qb has more than 1 ring outside of Big Ben and Brady. Drew Brees and Payton only won 1. Peyton Manning only 2 in his whole career and the last one he was carried by an all time defense. It’s not a slight on McCarthy that he only won 1 with Rodgers. Winning a SB ain’t easy even with a HOF qb

and all that wont mean JACK SQUAT if we get bounced in 1st or 2nd round of playoffs. Everything he said is 100% subjective. Only thing that matters is a Super Bowl.... when he wins one in Dallas, then I will love him. Until then, who cares.

lol... yea, because our defense leads the nfl in turnovers. give me a break. How hard is it to win when the defense hands you the ball 4 or 5 times a game and also scores a TD?

You think we win in Washington this year if the defense didnt hand the offense the ball like 23 times? Its not complicated.
