Video: Amari comments on McCarthy

no active qb has more than 1 ring outside of Big Ben and Brady. Drew Brees and Payton only won 1. Peyton Manning only 2 in his whole career and the last one he was carried by an all time defense. It’s not a slight on McCarthy that he only won 1 with Rodgers. Winning a SB ain’t easy even with a HOF qb

Many definitely think McCarthy should have won more with Rodgers and hold it against him. Rodgers for whatever reason is not held to such high standards.

Amari cooper was being interviewed by the radio station 105.3. They asked him if this was the best team he’s ever played on and he response was “absolutely, by far actually.”

Broaddus asked him why he felt this way about the team. He mentioned the talented players and depth that we have. My ears perked up when I heard his comments on coaching.

His response: “Coaching for sure. Like with McCarthy one of the things I noticed about him early, everything he does is about winning. He’s not big on the politics, everything he does goes towards winning and that is something I really respect.”

To me this is huge. I don’t care what skip and Shannon, or the media or what some bitter jaded posters on Cowboyszone have to say about McCarthy, hearing a player like Amari give a raving review about the big guy is music to my ears. Examples I can think of are Collins not getting his job back as soon as his suspension was over. Conner Williams getting benched and then getting it back after 4 games of trying out McGovern. Cutting Jaylon smith and his albatross of a contract. McCarthy is looking for winners, not playing the politics game. This team has potential to be special and I love it!

McCarthy has definitely grown on me this year. A coach’s job is to have your guys ready to play and he has done that

I would be very curious about what Coop meant when he used the term “politics”. I can imagine he was referring to the whole Jones circus but not sure. Good to know he sees Big Mac as putting winning first.
I think any HC has to deal with the family, politics, when they coach the Cowboys. It is the most unusual setup in all pro sports

The best way to do that is by winning and not giving them a reason to get involved or make their presence too known to the players.

The chain of command has always been a ? with this franchise to the point that Parcells demanded control.

McCarthy is a smart guy. He realizes what floats Booger’s boat and he gives unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. He focuses his energy on the team. And the team realizes that.

If that SI article never came out quoting anonymous sources “close to the situation”, everyone would have a different opinion of him. That made him look bad and has been a cloud hanging over his head. I like where we are at, the team seems to respond to his leadership. He’s not Garrett so that’s a win.

Bump all that, MM needs to work that clock better.

I like that Amari is playing with a Pissed off attitude, am I allowed to say that,, dont know, hope so,, I think Coop has actually always played that way or at least earned the right while with the Raiders.
Who wouldnt be pissed that had potential coming from that dark hole.
Even though they beat us.. dang bastids.

i think it’s a reference to Garrett. I remember when Dez left he talked about the “Garrett Guys” that had special treatment with the staff, namely Sean Lee and Witten. It makes sense when remembering that Witten retired came back a year later and instantly was a starter. Seems McCarthy doesn’t engage in that favoritism stuff, if you can ball you are gonna play.
Remember when McCarthy was hired and Witten wanted to join the staff and McCarthy was like lolno

I mentioned two years ago when the Jets were looking for a head coach that McCarthy would be a really good fit for them to help change the environment and help develop a starting quarterback and offense but they're the NY Jets, common sense and the Jets are miles apart...... thank God Steven and Jerry signed McCarthy, a constant professional, the environment around this team is completely different, Mike and McClay seem to be on the same page as to the kind of players they want via the draft and free agency, this draft is looking like a major success and although I can complain about his clock management at the half, this team shows up every week to play hard and fast..

My guess is pretty simple........Garrett coached to please Jerry and Stephen vs MM coach to win

lol... yea, because our defense leads the nfl in turnovers. give me a break. How hard is it to win when the defense hands you the ball 4 or 5 times a game and also scores a TD?

You think we win in Washington this year if the defense didnt hand the offense the ball like 23 times? Its not complicated.

You know it was him that put the machines in for the defense to practice catching right? Maybe he has an influence on that as well.

As good as a person i think Garrett is, I would rather not remember his tenure here

idc what his record says he wasnt a good head coach.....and to be employed from 2007-2019 was a bad choice by Jones

the man shouldve been let go right when Wade Phillips was

I know exactly what Cooper is talking about and it's Garrett. Remember all those overused terms- "the process", "right kind of guys", etc.. All a bunch of crap. The right kind of guys are the ones that help you win football games. That's all that matters.

Under Garrett the Cowboys were more of a cult and the only players that mattered was his own inner circle. I think Dez Bryant already touched on this since it's clear he wasn't part of that Garrett group.

I applaud Cooper for telling it like it is.

I always listen to 105.3 the FAN interviews everytime they are released. Amari's weekly interview is my favorite. Followed by Coach McCarthy. Sometimes I listen to Jerry and I hardly listen to Stephen lol.

Good to hear but I need Amari to show up in the cold on the road in the playoffs. That's all I care about at this point with him. Study Plaxico in the '07 playoffs. The guy showed up big in Green Bay in negative temperatures.

Garrett was squarely in the crosshairs of Amari’s statement.

speaks volumes.
this is his team.
his locker-room.
his guys.
everything is in place.
its up to them now.
go do it.
