Amari Expendable

Ummm...Dak targeted 9 different receivers yesterday. Wilson and Brown couldn't catch a cold. He was 6-6 when targeting Zeke. He targeted Gallup 10 times and Gallup only came up with 5 receptions.

I’m not sure what this proves?

1. Zeke is getting check-downs or short passes. 2 of the 6 completions to Zeke came on the last drive. 1 of them was a dump off that went 19 yards. Being 6-6 is not indicated of anything significant regarding Dak not being culpable.

2. Further, Dak’s numbers were inflated once again by garbage time. Dak was 6 for 8 on his last drive, where he had another 19 yard pass to Schultz.

3. The Chiefs took away the deep route and Gallup runs a limited set of route. He led the league in go-routes two years ago. Dak’s numbers are inflated with guys like Gallup as well and always have been, because of the man coverage our WRs get and the weak defenses we play. His throw to Gallup where he got INT was just another go route, where the CB had perfect coverage. Dak gets away with it normally, when it’s Amari or Lamb smoking the DB, without safety help.

4. This is a typical game of Dak when he gets punched in the mouth. He takes everything underneath. This idea that his WRs were dropping everything is comical. The offense in fact is limited by his limited skill set.

I doubt we would have won with Amari in. The route running was crap, but Dak didn't have much time to get the ball away. So I'd rather ask How is the "Dak's got more touchdowns when blizzed than anybody else" argument working out now? I remember we had three or more threads about his last week, lol.

I wanna SEE him doing great against a top Defense. Doesn't matter how crap his O line is, what injuries we have or if his top receiver can't play. We're supposed to have too many weapons for that being an excuse. Remember our first drive? *insert alot of explicits* I remember thinking "woah, so much for tonight".
To be honest, Cooper is unavailable much too often when the team needs him. He has been great against bad teams with bad defenses, but like the rest of the team, he doesn’t show up against those good teams.

Maybe they should start a hate Dak zone so you birds of a feather can flock together.

Amari

Made the right health choice. He doesn't want to get hurt by shots that are killing and hurting those who take them. And that's just a start.
Go blame the NFL for violating the players rights.

So tired of these ignorant people.

So? Pass it to Wilson, our Tight Ends or even Zeke then. None of them could do anything.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not on the "Lamb is our #1 receiver" train. Just sayin that yesterday Coop couldn't have saved the day.

But coulda woulda... no one can prove his stance anyway, so let's leave it at "He's f'*%&§g necessary" because that I can sign.
He did.
They dropped most of them. Or none of them could break just one single tackle

How is the Amari being expendable, because Gallup is legit argument working out now?

This is an out of context argument. If there was no salary CAP, I would want Jerry to sign Cooper and Gallup - and Gregory, and Schultz and even LVE. Why not? It's Jerry's money.

But there is a CAP and the Cowboys have CAP issues in 2022 so the question is what is the best combination of players that can be fit under the salary CAP and how best to create the space needed to get there. Cooper has a very inviting contract - big salary, low bonus. It is easy CAP space if the Cowboys want to take it. Of course that means finding a way to sign Gallup and maybe adding one more WR. It is probably not going to happen. Cooper will be restructured and Gallup with sign somewhere else. But the question is not who is expendable. It is who can be afforded while allowing for signing 50 other players under the CAP.

Also, I won't judge any player based on 1 game. Cooper has disappeared in games too. The KC game, given the way Dak and the OL played, is not a good game to use as a measurement. And btw, Cooper played in the Denver game, didn't he? He had 2 catches for 37 yards. Gallup had 5 catches for 44 yards against KC. How do you judge either player on these two games?

I might of been to hard on Amari but him missing these games have so far proven he's the best receiver we have.

The answer is that Gallup was never going to be a viable replacement for Cooper. I like Gallup. But the reality is this talk of signing him this offseason and tossing Cooper out was pretty silly.
Yup! Take the 3rd round comp for Gallup… use it to move up in the 2nd for a slot, preferably one with 4.3 speed!

Amari has to make better decisions about his health choices. Private choices should not keep you off the field for multiple games. Dependability is also an important trait for key players.

So Zack Martin, by making that personal health decision you're referring to, helped his team by not missing the opener???
