I've said it before, but what made it Emmitt great is that he wasted no movement. You see lots of guys with arms and legs all over the place, but he was very compact and only moved as much as he needed to.

He also had vision the likes of which you basically never see.
Exactly! It's nice to see spinning moves but even those were compacted spins. That is the same thing that made Barry Sanders so good.

The key was for him to maintain balance and control while making the moves. That is also why he rarely got injured since that kind of control reduces the strain and pressure on joints, bones, etc.

That drive at the beginning of the second half in SB 28 was vintage Emmitt.

Yeah that drive, the shoulder game against the Giants and the run at Atlanta on Monday Night where he broke away from the pile and beat Deion for the touchdown are vintage Emmitt.

He singlehandedly got me interested in the game. He was my boyhood idol growing up in elementary school. I can remember once a year having the oppertunity to buy posters at the school I attended under some kind of academic program, and how jazzed I was to be able to get a couple Emmitt or Aikman posters every year.

Haha, I know exactly what you are talking about. Ours was called the Scholastic book fair. I never bought any books, just Emmitt and Troy posters, ha. And they had new ones every year.

That TG catch against McKenzie is one of the best catches I have ever seen.

I think ESs OL was great. I don't see how people can even go there. OTOH, ES is great and I don't see how people can say his OL made him great. Look at how many times he made people miss him to the point some couldn't even trip him! He was complete. Blocked great. Caught and ran great. Ran even greater. And the entire team made him greater not just the OL. Talk about the right talent being in the right place at the right time with the right team, right owner, right QB, right WRs, right OL, right defense, right everything.

While all of that is true, the team DID NOT perform the same way when he was out.

True, Dallas did not win when Emmitt was out and no other RB was producing behind that same O-line. Emmit Smith was a great RB who knew how to use his blockers, he would tell them just get a body on your man and I'll work off of that. The man had great lower body power and enough speed to take it to the house even though he was not a so called speed back. Add to that he was an outstanding blocker and good coming out of the backfield on pass plays.

Emmitt's balance was uncanny. Also, his vision and the way he used his off hand was masterful. That dude is the G.O.A.T.

His balance and vision ( most of the time he knows where the next tackler) and ways to change direction ,speed was exceptional. Troy A had the benefits of good running game granted and stout O-Line. Wish Romo can have the same this year if JG finally wakes up and puts all our RBs in play and the old Coach Houck gets the O-Line play like this.

Emmitt's Oline was great, but none of them will get in the HoF except Larry Allen who wasn't a lineman for Emmitt till after they had already won two super bowls.

Guys like Newton, Gogan, Stepnoski, Gesek, Tuinei, Williams, etc. have been eligible for HoF voting, but have yet to be nominated, and likely never will. Talk about a crime, and anti-Cowboys bias. Everyone that hates Emmitt tries to claim he was "not a top 5 back" because of how great his oline was, but yet they never raise a stink about the utter lack of even considering any of these guys for the HoF.

That last sentence is definately true. Which brings me back to my point:

If that O-line was so great, why didn't those other RBs put up the same production, when they had to run behind that same O-line?
