so if the TEAM lost, the the TEAM had a great year and favre was only a part of it, NOT the entire reason.

I will agree.

One caveat....

Favre was the mortar that made that team what it was. Same team with TJax did what last year?

The team did lose that game. Fumbles galore by ADP and the one by Berrian. That absolutely killed the Vikes. The INT certainly did not help matters.

Maybe it's just me, but the announcer(s) seemed pretty restrained. No explosion, just "here we go again."

the jets underroos should be pretty hard to find, but i have faith in you.

bag on one fumble from another player, forgive the int by favre.

See, once again you lower yourself to silliness and juvenile behavior with all your BS name-calling.

You are not worth my time. I will not lower myself to your level, so I will just not respond to anything you have to say.

If you decide you want to have an intelligent debate, I am all for it; but I am not going to answer that diatribe of incessant babbling.

You have to be better than that. C'mon Man!

I'm really glad that you decided to take the high road. I believe that speaks volumes about your character. You didn't deserve what Hostile came at you with, it's not like you invited it upon yourself in any way. Totally uncalled for. Hostile should be ashamed.

Several in this thread (and others) talk about Karma and revenge. This might be the stupidest thread I have seen here yet and that says a lot. Some here act like it is some sort of consolation prize for the cowboys. That is sad, sad, sad.

To speak to Karma, all the glee here over a team that beat you 34-3 does not bode well for the future; but sure I am sure you all believe the better team lost in the divisional round and that you would have rolled the Saints.

Not sure exactly what is wrong with you, but I am sure it must be very hard to pronounce.

I understand you are really into underroos and all, but do you care to address "same team different QB" that was introduced in the post or are you just going to talk about underware?

There were 6 free balls in that game.... 6. That is not on one person, and Favre had them in position to blow it open on several. He made one mistake during that game. It just happened to be the last mistake.

You guys are all right and you are all wrong.

For you guys that think Favre is the perfect QB, you need to step back and see the whole picture.

For you guys that are only pointing out his failures, you need to step back and put your "Favre Hate" aside.

Favre reminds me of a clean-up hitter in baseball, .. yes, he hits home-runs, but he strikes out a ton too.

I would prefer a good 3-hitter myself, one that may not hit many homeruns, but always makes contact, advances runners, and gets on base a lot.

Anyway, you gotta give Favre credit for the good things he has done, .. but he also needs to be held accountable for all of the bonehead things he has done.

And as far as comparing him with Aikman, I can't even believe we are having that conversation. That to me is like discussing Emmitt or Barry.

Give me Emmitt every time, and give me Troy every time.

If you want exciting plays and ESPN highlights, take Barry and Brett.

If you want championships, take Emmitt and Troy.

Same Vikings team that was pretty bad with all the same pieces except for Favre under center..... yeah..... that is right.... Favre made it click and thus made it awesome.

About the cowboys and the 90s.... we will just have to disagree. I am not taking anything away from Aikman, but he was no Favre. Aikman's supporting cast is probably the best ever assembled in the modern era of pro football.
that Viking team has improved each of the last 3 years and won 10 games and made the playoffs with Tavaris Jackson at qb last season.

Oh please. Would you at least try to be honest?

There are no fans in the NFL who are going to unanimously genuflect to the greatness of Brett Favre. Your own Commanders fans won't do it. So why would you expect Cowboys fans to?

Oh, I know, so you can post a lot of stupid rhetoric and act all smart because you know his stats. Here, let me help you out Oil Check, no matter how great Brett Favre is, he is always going to have detractors. The reason is simple, he gets a lot of love from the media, throws a lot of INTs at critical times in big games, and he retires and un-retires regularly.

I am not bothered by any of that stuff, but other people are. It is called allowing them to have an opinion. You would do well to learn that.

Now let me address the karma thing. Here's an unpleasant little fact for you. That final TD pass would rub the fans of any team wrong. Not just Cowboys fans Oil Check. If it happened to your team, it would piss you off. You want proof?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=271028017

Go take a look at any Commanders forum and find that game thread. Even with Brady out of the game it was still pretty galling that New England was throwing the football up that big. I got a hundred bucks says I can show you where Commanders fans called the Patriots loss in the Super Bowl...karma.

You want to take the bet Oil Check?

Really all he needs to do is go to the link you provided and click the conversation button...

Let me clue you in to something, you started with the insults. This is a Cowboys forum and you presume that you can come here and insult our team and have complete autonomy. No, you can't. So I am going to oblige you and return the insults in kind.

You couldn't have an intelligent conversation with me because I would make you look foolish. The post you chose to ignore is the perfect example. Your knowledge of the game has proven to miniscule in comparison to your pompous braggadocio. On more than one occasion you have offered to have an intelligent conversation only to slink away when the facts make you look ridiculous.

Don't want crap from me? Real simple, don't come here slinging crap and I won't pounce. Ask any of the long time Commanders fans who consider me friends. I respect those who give it first. You haven't, so you have none. You arrived here with a charade of being a Cowboys fan and got caught. You want to overcome the stigma attached to your opinions, earn it.

I know. I made it way too easy to prove how ridiculous his stance was.

By the way, I hate the Commanders as much as any person who visits this forum. I did not condone the Patriots actions in that game of running it up and I said, "that comes back to bite you." I referred to that very thing when they lost the Super Bowl.

The Vikings killed their Super Bowl last week, not Sunday.

this would seem to say that you feel favre is the only reason the vikings were a better team this year.

guffaw.

so fine - if he made it click and we must have it your way he also bonered the hoochiekoo on the stupid INT. no one else on the team did it, did they? i really don't care if you love favre or not and will put up any excuse necessary to make him feel better. there's a chance that the last pass he ever threw in the NFL was a stupid decision that cost the TEAM a shot at the superbowl. that makes me very happy.

you can't honor and forgive him all at once.

well, unless you're in the media.

Well then you can do the same by not honoring and forgiving the rest of his team all at once.

Cause the very simple fact is that the Vikings wouldn't have even been in that situation, at all, if Berrian, Harvin, and AP had the fundamental grasp of knowing how to not fumble the football in crucial situations.

The Harvin fumble led directly to 7 Saints points. The AP and Berrian fumbles, at the very least, cost the Vikings 6 points, cause they were at the 10 or better both times, and with the way they were moving the ball on those drives it more than likely cost them 14 points.

So those 3 players goofs lead directly to anywhere from a 13 to a 21 point swing.

So, yeah, his last pass sealed it. He made a stupid throw and he deserves to have people question why he'd even throw that ball. But lets not pretend like it's his fault that the team was even in that stupid situation to begin with. 3 other players doing something as simple as holding onto the darn ball and the Vikings win that in regulation and most likely win it by 10+ points.

Well that should teach Brad Childress. Anytime you're inside the 10 yard line, you're better off just kicking the field goal before you fumble or (with Favre at QB) throw an INT! :laugh2:

at every point of this discussion i've said the TEAM lost. i don't care who or what got them there, the TEAM did.

but i won't blame everyone BUT favre for the loss. if he's part of the team he's part of the reason they lost.

i'm not into karma in this one. i don't give a damn about the cowboys game.

i hate favre and my entire focus is it makes me giggle that likely the last play of his career cost him the superbowl and was an INT. it's childish i know but that's the bile the man brings out in me.

i also give full credit that he's one of the best *players* to have ever played the game. not THE best cause that's just a stupid conversation.

just as it's a stupid conversation to say favre isn't to blame for his turnover, but everyone else is for putting favre into such a bad position.

TEAM LOSS.

period.
