people are thinking about this the wrong way. remember, danny is trying to EARN a spot, not do enough to not get cut. fans have every right to be critical of him.

By critical yes, actually cheering for him to fail which it seems so many here are is a whole different thing

Fans have a right to do whatever they want but it has no bearing on what the team will or will not do. Amendola is trying to make the team if he can show enough he may make it or could be placed on the practice squad and if he does not show much he could get released. It is just the way it is. Myself I'm pulling for him just as much as I'm pulling for other young guys to step up and show they belong. Amendola is not the enemy

critical of him for a single mistake in the first pre-season game?

i guess everyone does have the right to be stupid but ....

the defense couldn't get calls in, the special teams was all over the place and in general we sucked. that tends to happen when the other teams plays their starters longer, their 2s longer and you are using a hodgepodge special teams group.

danny amendola was undrafted. the fact he was able to earn a spot returning punts all game in the first pre-season contest is amazing in and of itself.

wes welker was cut in his first training camp, then he ended up being under-appreciated in miami. amendola is off to a better nfl start than welker. amendola is trying to earn a spot on the team but he isn't expected to never make a mistake.

I'm for what's best for the Cowboys. I don't buy the hype surrounding non-drafted rookie FA's, but if they prove themselves and can help the team then I'm all for it. That said, I'm won't be too surprised if he flops. These types of players are longshots for a reason.

I know quite a few people who root against Cowboys players.

They're called Commanders fans, and they smell like an old folks home. That's how you know them.

trust me, I am pulling for every one on in camp right now. but danny is going to have to do a lot to make this team. I have more a wait and see approach.

Be careful about what you say about "old folks" or I'll clobber you with my walker. :)

As for Amendola, time will tell if he's a "player". The kid had a decent college career and there are those here who hope that the Cowboys could find another "steal" (like Romo). Let's remember how long it took Tony to get on the field. Having said that, Danny will have to earn his spot on the roster. The good news is that cuts don't have to come right away. AS far as I'm concerned, the game against San Diego provided Wade with plenty of "coachable moments" for various players, including not only Danny, but Adam Jones, the backup O-Line and the not-very-Special Teams.

Some things we do know about Amendola:

He's the great white hype
He was undrafted (I wonder why?)
He definitely has a following (why, I do not understand . . . . )
He's definitely not taking T.O.'s, Hurd's, Miles', Crayton's or Stanback's jobs.
We already have one Texas Tech "Idol" in Zach Thomas.
He'll be lucky to land on the practice squad.
He had an inauspicious debut Saturday.
He's been taking up oxygen at camp.

Would you hold it against me if I did?
Not in the least SP. In fact, I may be more in love with you for it.

Wanna talk hype? Where's the great Hype Stanback? Still waiting on that guy too

Preseason game #1, 2005: Marion Barber: 6 carries, 8 yards.

You can't measure the young guys by one game. They're still adjusting to things at the pro level. Give him up to P3 to determine whether he's all hype or not

There were a few posters calling for Dallas to cut Marion Barber in the pre-season of his rookie year. He was initially slowed by injuries and then had problems hanging on to the ball in pre-season games. Plus Julius was supposed to have a break out year. I am just glad Barber survived his first poor outing.

Kinda sad? It's downright stupid now. Every single one of his posts is about DA. He just has to

Can't a person make a talent evaluation here?

Heck 30 "Dallas Cowboys" are going to be cut next few weeks.....No one is rooting against those 30. But it is soon obvious to be who they are!

to bad we can't cut some fans....

Thanks, buddy... and thanks for being one of the "kids" who keeps a level head in his posting... even at your tender age, you're a better Cowboys fan, and a more knowledgeable football fan, than a lot of posters in here...

Keep it up... you're the future of this board...

glad you like us kids :D

I wouldn't be buying green bananas if I was Stanback. They keep mentioning his speed and play making ability and I dont see it. Crayton looks faster and quicker than him. If anybody is a bust Stanback is.
