An appeal for calm should we lose

So it's a "must win" because we want to be Super Bowl Contenders and we MUST make our statement in this game?? Or is it "must win" because if we lose the season is done?

Either way you're off base... we can make a statement later in the season or in the playoffs. No one's going to remember our "statement" if we were to win then lose the rest of our games.

I can see it now, we back into the playoffs as a six seed wild card, but the pundits can't get over the statement we made in Week 5 in Philly.
You know what I like for the Cowboys, to win every game myself but I'm smart enough to know that no team can do that in this day and age.

If we were to lose to Philly, in Philly there's always the next time meaning this Christmas Day at home that's how I look at it.

But I'm not going to lose my edge just because we lose on any game like when the "Sky is Falling" crowd flew off the handle when we lost to Jax, week one.

A loss is to me tells that team they need to work harder on what went wrong in that game they lost.

you kidding me, some people on this board still freak out when we get a 31 point win, you expect rationality if we lose?
Right on the money with that one some people wasn't happy with the 45-14 drubbing of the Titans, last Sunday complaining about the pass rush that show's you right there about some of the people's morale on this board.

We were in TOTAL control of that game the second we went ahead. I never had any doubt we would lose.

When Vanderclank missed that kick - the result of the game was very much hanging in the balance.... it figures.. a canadian fan avoiding the missed kick by another canadian....:D

Let's keep in mind going into this game that:
  1. The season is still early.
  2. This is just one game.
  3. Home teams in big games have a big inherent advantage.
  4. This has become one of our tougher games on paper.
  5. We can lose multiple games this year and still have a very successful season. We will still look like a bad team immediately following any particular loss.
A lot of media types are talking about what a circus this is. I'd like instead to propose that many of the posters in here appear to be on some kind of rollercoaster -- victories bring taunts and Superbowl predictions; losses bring calls for multiple cuts and predictions of doom. The rollercoaster turns and loops and fans get disoriented and weird things happen: 31-point victories become somber occasions to point out our faults and first-quarter incompletions are signs of the apocalypse.

I think we can beat Philadelphia and I will be pulling for the Cowboys just like everybody else here. If/when they lose, however, I will move on pretty quickly.

I purely hate "if we lose" threads... it's defeatism, is all it is... what, are you AFRAID of the Iggles, pal??

Seems to me there would have been plenty of time for this post AFTER the game, if it turned out we lost the game...

Have you seen the gameday threads in here?

Monday is a holiday, so I expect that IF we lose, many of us will stay up ALL NIGHT and vent on this board.

(I know I will).

Worst case scenario we are 2 games back of Philly with the hardest part of their schedule yet to come, the easiest part of ours ahead, and with the revenge game at our place. It wouldn't be a complete disaster. Do we need it yes, but it's certainly not a must have win.

For those of you who are convinced if we don't win this game that the season is over...

Division Records
Dallas 1-0
NYG 1-0
Philly 0-1
Wash 0-1

If we lose...
NYG 2-0
Dallas 1-1
Philly 1-1
Wash 0-2

or

NYG 1-1
Dallas 1-1
Philly 1-1
Wash 1-1

Give it a rest. Not a must win game. Not even close.

The idea behind this thread is an appeal for calm if we lose. Will there be calm if we lose?? Doubtful... And those of you who are claiming this is a must win game will be the first people screaming that the end is nigh.
