I don't care if people get mad after a loss.

However I do ask that if we should lose, not to come on this board and start acting a fool, cursing, ripping on everyone and generally losing your mind.

Let's keep in mind going into this game that:
  1. The season is still early.
  2. This is just one game.
  3. Home teams in big games have a big inherent advantage.
  4. This has become one of our tougher games on paper.
  5. We can lose multiple games this year and still have a very successful season. We will still look like a bad team immediately following any particular loss.
A lot of media types are talking about what a circus this is. I'd like instead to propose that many of the posters in here appear to be on some kind of rollercoaster -- victories bring taunts and Superbowl predictions; losses bring calls for multiple cuts and predictions of doom. The rollercoaster turns and loops and fans get disoriented and weird things happen: 31-point victories become somber occasions to point out our faults and first-quarter incompletions are signs of the apocalypse.

I think we can beat Philadelphia and I will be pulling for the Cowboys just like everybody else here. If/when they lose, however, I will move on pretty quickly.

Who speaks of losing on Thursday ??

Get away from me.

Ditto! Unless Parcells goes off the deep end, I won't either. Win or lose, keep an even keel.

Come on... if we lose... we should not be calm... calm is bad... we need to get mad...

We should get mad after every loss... not just "well ya gotta lose some anyways" like Jaguars game...

Attitude counts for alot.

Why your attitude is not going to affect Dallas one way or the other and our players can't afford to look at this game as if we win and we are going all the way or lose and the season is over. That is the worst thing any team can do is to put to much emphasis on 1 game that they allow it to effect the remainder of the season which is why most teams have the so called 24 hour rule

To counter your points.....

1) season is still early....but we thought that last year after dropping a pivotal game to washington at home in week 2....ultimately cost us a playoff spot.
2) It's a huge game, and the NFC East title is on the line IMO.
3) Yah that's why every year they get bounced in the playoffs and the games aren't even close (i.e. Chi/Car, Pit/Den, Pit/Indy, from last year to name a few)
4) No it hasn't, philly has beat 3 bad teams and lost to another bad one....especially on defense.
5) We can't lose multiple games, we really need to go 13-3 if we want a first round bye, maybe even better...look at chicago and seattle's schedules if you dont' believe me.
I'll return the favor:
1. Yes, each game is important and this one is relatively very important.
2. Your opinion, yep your opinion.
3. Those are the exception, not the rule.
4. But they have mostly looked good doing it. But you make an important point.
5. If 13-3 is your idea of a successful season, then you're second in line for counseling.

Someone didn't take their drama queen medication this morning...

1) The 1st WAS game last season didn't cost us a playoff spot anymore than our other losses, including the second one to WAS. And if you'll notice, that game was at home, this one's on the road. The road games are tougher.
2) The NYFG and WAS may have something to say about the division... especially of NY wins the early game. If so they're 2-0 in the division as Dallas would be if we were the winner of this game.
3) No one said homefield is an assured win. Throwing out 3 examples of road teams winning playoff games means little, and doesn't change that homefield is called an advantage for a reason.
4) This game has been circled on the calendar for months. Philly's beaten who they've supposed to beat, they can't do more.
5) We can't lose multiple games?? Would 3 losses be multiple? And how contradictory is it for you to say this is a "Must Win," while at the same time say we must win it because we need a first round bye in the playoffs? When I think Must Win I think that if we don't win it our season is over... doesn't sound like what you're saying.

The bottom line here is that the margin for error in this division is microscopic.....the Commanders just lit up a team that we struggled to move the ball against and look to be back on track.

The eagles have a cookie cutter schedule until they play 3 straight tough ones on the road in december and right now they are putting up huge numbers against teams they should be.

The giants will be in every game with their offense, but probably aren't a playoff team because of their shoddy defense and ridiculously tough schedule.

This game on Sunday is HUGE....and to me if we don't show up in this one or look like we did against jacksonville in week 1 than you can forget about reclaiming what is rightfully ours.....the NFC East title.

Dallas needs to win this game period. Yes its only one game, but that is one more game they don't have to win. Dallas cannot drop games to vastly inferior teams which is what I consider Philly right now. Philly is banged up. They do not have a healthy Stallworth, Shepard, Brown, or Hood. Not to mention that the freak is done for the year. They will lose some games, but better to save those losses for a real team such as the Colts or the Panthers. If Philly was healthy then a loss would not disassapoint me as much.

Do the math, if philly wins:

Philly 4-1 including head to head over dallas
Dallas 2-2 including head to head loss to philly (1/2 game, I know what i'm talking about)

Yes they have played one more game, but it still would be a huge hole.
Well, yeah, I've done the math. The Cowboys would be 1.5 games back. Now you try.

This game is a crucial game. I am not worried about Dallas overcoming a 2-2 record if they were to lose. To me that is not the issue.

A loss to Philly means Dallas has played two good teams on the road and lost both times. At some point Dallas has to rise above the competition even when they are playing good teams on the road.

At 2-2, if that were to happen I would not put Dallas as the frontrunner for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. At some point Dallas needs to go into enemy territory to kick butt and take names.

Honestly, should I have any confidence in this Dallas team if they go into Philly and lose?

Having said all that, I think it will be a moot point in the end because I believe the Cowboys will win.

I agree....this game is a MUST WIN no matter which way you slice it.

I'm not going to be content with the 'well it's just one game and there's a long way to go crap' if we somehow lose. The difference between 3-1 and handing philly their 2nd division loss compared to being 2-2 and 2 1/2 games behind philly is monstrous, especially considering their schedule is easier than ours.

We have the better team period....on offense and especially on defense. Philly might be #1 in the NFL on offense, but they have racked up the yards against 4 garbage teams (yes the giants included) so I'm not really impressed.

All we have to do is come to play for 4 quarters and I truly believe this game won't even be close. We aren't going to make the mistakes that Green Bay did, and it only took the Giants 1 good quarter to win there.

:starspin

Or, what? Commit suicide? I hope not! Getting too worked up about things you can't control wouldn't seem too smart.

You can throw in the towel if you want after 4 games, many of us who have been watching the NFL for many years know better than that. How you react to this game win or lose is on you.

I understand what you are trying to say but it comes off as sounding a tad too pessimistic. I fully expect us to win this game. If for no other reason, we don't want to be in a 2-2 hole.

That H2H loss to Philly doesn't mean a half game (tiebreaker) yet. We have them at home on Christmas.

Yes if we beat them in december, but I'm talking about right now.....we need to win this game. Superbowl contenders go on the road into hostile environments and shut down pretenders and make statements.

That's not much of a hole, if you ask me. Nothing winning the next 2 at home against Houston and NYG wouldn't help pop out of.

Don't get me wrong -- we're one helluva lot better off with a win than a loss.

Why? You know as well as I do that should Dallas lose the same old crowd claiming the sky is falling will be in full force. Like you I don't like thinking about a loss before the game is even played but one thing is for sure some will always over react no matter the outcome. Win or lose we have 12 games left and to put too much emphasis on 1 game this early in the year is crazy

So it's a "must win" because we want to be Super Bowl Contenders and we MUST make our statement in this game?? Or is it "must win" because if we lose the season is done?

Either way you're off base... we can make a statement later in the season or in the playoffs. No one's going to remember our "statement" if we were to win then lose the rest of our games.

I can see it now, we back into the playoffs as a six seed wild card, but the pundits can't get over the statement we made in Week 5 in Philly.
