18 days is good 21 days is bad?
Dallas should whip Tampa, or they don't have any business in the playoffs. The layoff shouldn't matter.

However, 21 days before playing a dangerous team like Dallas is quite another matter.

A lot of good that one week break did for them in Green Bay this year.

Pay no attention to the gutless. The Football Gods don't reward cowards.
The gutless screwed the pooch in Jacksonville. The No. 1 seed died there.

Wild card teams go to the Super Bowl all the time. Let's just be ready for that.

This is passive aggressive management of disappointment. You know the Eagles are likely to win the division and #1 seed today so you have to spin it in a way that's good for Dallas so you feel better about the whole situation.

No, the Eagles winning is not best for the Cowboys. What's best for the Cowboys is earning that #1 seed so they get to stay at home for the playoffs and only need two wins to make the SB as opposed to having to become road warriors most likely and win 3 straight road games.
Agreed, but that ship sailed.

They're not winning the lottery. Deal with the situation as it is. That's what winners do.

This is doable from the 5th seed.

Here's hoping the Eagles finish it off today.

Dallas is tired, beaten up, and gasping. 18 days of rest for the key people would do wonders.

Imagine a fully fresh Micah, DLaw, Diggs, Hooker, Kearse, etc on defense! Imagine Zeke and Pollard with plenty of bounce, and the full key receiving corps fresh. Picture the offensive line healed and ready to mash.

On the flip side, it could also benefit Dallas if Philly has to wait 3 full weeks to play a meaningful game with us waiting for them. That is too much down time.

Hoping against hope to win the division and No. 1 seed is fool's gold. That was ruined in Jacksonville.

Let's get ready for Brady starting right now!!!

Not a fan thinking this way. Come on Man.

Or - prepare for Darnold and the Black Cats - if they set off several M-80s to torpedo that pirate ship in the cove in about a half-hour from now.

Hope is not a strategy. Deal with the way things are, not what you wish they were. I've done very well in this world with that approach.

Nobody wants to play Dallas in the playoffs. They'll be fine. They just need to get their minds ready to do this on the road, starting today.

And some time to heal and mentally prepare while Tampa and others are grinding to get in helps.

This is my thinking.

Worst case is Saints win today, forcing us to play week 18. We win, but Philly wins. We still end up the 5th seed.

I don’t think the Saints win. But I am sure it’ll be close with the eagles winning late
I don’t think the Saints have the office. But the defense can be punishing.

Only because I hate the Eagles. I don’t care where we end up. We can take care of our own business.

If NO wins you want the Colts to beat the Gents as well. That way NY has to play vs Philly next week. I prefer all of them to get beat up more.

Yes, I want the Eagles to lose their final 2 and get knocked out of seeding. It's just not the Cowboys looking for Eagles losses.

I did not say I am hoping. I did not say it is a strategy. You made that up. Math says there is a chance. I have done very well in this world with that approach as well.

Maybe your type of strategy is to give up. I don't. I will see how it plays out today, then go from there.

So you want them to prepare by giving up and accepting ... hey let's just be happy at this point... Good thing you are not involved with the team or coaching.
If a team has that approach, they already lost that next game.

And there's less than a 2% chance of that happening.

Dallas needs the rest badly.
Gotta play many of the starters in Wash just to field a team, so you’re only talking about the very top of the roster.

I agree with your logic to an extent, but it seems like every time we try that we end up flat in the playoff game…similar to how they are usually flat after bye weeks.

Agree. It would be a big risk to go into next week with Divisional Winner hopes, particularly if the Giants win today. The Eagles will not be dropping three in a row. Rest those dinged up players and play the other starters as sparingly as possible given game day roster limitations.
