An informal survey: Is Romo closer to Aikman or to White?

More Brett Favre without the arm.. Has the capabilities just needs to go 3 games in the playoffs without turning it over. Brett did it just once..

When i first saw Romo play he reminded me a lot of Staubach because he was so mobile then after a while it was more like Danny because he was never able to get us there. Then I realize heck Danny did more than this guy.. after that I look at Romo and I just realize this guy will go down in Dallas history in a bad way if he does not win a super bowl. Stats will never replace folkore..

I tend to agree wit you.

It seems that Romo's miscues half come in the worse possibles times. Not on a series that is going nowhere near halftime in an easily-won game, not miscues that are recovered by us. No, mens, his miscues half come at the worse times possibles. That is just unfortunate for us and his legacy.
I do think the pressure gets to this QB who is otherwise brilliant in personal statistics.
His mistakes happen at the worst possible time though, because he can't afford to make a mistake on this team. There is no time, with this current team, where a turnover isn't seen as the worst possible time as there's zero margin for error. Heck, there's games where Romo throws for 400+ yards, 3-4TDs and has an almost perfect rating and the team still loses. That's almost unheard of outside of this team. Romo is a prime example of how much of a TEAM game this sport is.

Hey, the guy is a hell of a qb unfortunately on a team that is just not that great. Whites teams were better than these current Cowboy teams. Romo continually is in the 90's as far as passer rating, I know passer rating means nothing evidently. Give the guy at least a defense or an offense so he can at least be competitive. Anyone here believe that White's teams were not better than Romo's ?

If he doesn't have enough postseason success then he will be just a very good QB. If he has postseason success even late in his career then he'll be worthy of comparing to other great QBs.

You can view it how you want, but one's personal production is all a player can really contribute. "Over the hump" is something the team has to do.
Over the hump refers to Romo playing at a high level in these play or go home games. He has to be able to do better in those, without question.

The last 8 games of the season were all win or no playoffs. Romo was the hottest QB in the league for 7/8 of them. Not sure how much better you can expect. They weren't win or go home because they were during the season but they were almost all win or no playoffs.

Amen to that. Romo has won only 76% of the games where he's had a +3 TD to INT, which is ridiculous. By comparison Brady has won 97% of his. No quarterback that has to do as much as Romo is as scrutinized as he is.

Thank you for allowing me to keep my mouth shut.

both White and Aikman played on better teams--how would either White or Aikman do on last year's Cowboys?

That's nice, but it does not take into account how many times Romo misses a wide open WR for a TD, like he did many times this year alone. That might tweak your stats a bit aye?

He's better than both of them. Aikman already admitted Romo's better than he was.

Makes no difference to me how other people choose to judge QBs. Football's a team sport so it's completely illogical to judge an individual player based on his team's successes or failures.

I think Romo would have been really really good playing with Aikman's OLine and with Emmitt and that running game.
Would have won Super Bowls....

Have to have the team around you to win playoff games.

Romo's more like Dan Fouts. A great statistical and regular season QB that was saddled with with a poor GM, a shoddy OL, and not enough post-season success.

Danny White won more playoff games in 1 season than Romo's won his entire career.

I think you are right...Dan Fouts. A statistical QB during the season but never plays in the superbowl.

note: a poor man's version of Dan Fouts...he won't play as long or as well, but similiar results...

Dude thinks everything younger is better.
kids...:lmao2:

Aikman on last years team would have had 85 sacks, 32 concussions,
22 split chins and 10 fractured vertebre.

:laugh2: Just picking on you Nav, following that Jordan/LeBron thread.

You should know by now that I'm a big Romo supporter.

All good. I'm not even a Heat fan. If LeBron never wins another game in his life but Romo wins a ring, I'll be thrilled. :D
