I'm curious what the Raiders are doing.

Trading away Mack and Cooper seemed to indicate a complete rebuild.

Trading for a 31 year old WR seems like the opposite of a rebuild.

Rarely has trading away young players and replacing them with old players been a blueprint for going to the Super Bowl.

The value of the picks the Raiders gave for Brown is literally just 1 round later than the pick they received from the Cowboys.

Raiders received 1-27 for Cooper.

Raiders gave the equivalent of 2-28 for Brown.

I'm not really condemning the Raider per se, but it seems like they started rebuilding and then changed their minds.

An owner needs a strong backbone to do a true rebuild. It seems that Mark Davis might have lost his nerve after fan criticism

That's exactly what they are doing. Gruden is going to be there for a while and he knows it. So he is overturning the roster. He said exactly what he is doing. He wants players that WANT TO BE RAIDERS and will buy into his program. IF you don't want to be a Raider, he is getting rid of you.

Gruden was working with garbage QBs for most of the years he was in Tampa. And no, Carr is not on the level of trash he was dealing with there. They never found their guy (still haven't)

Carr is a very good QB. I could see how some of you would think otherwise.

At first glance it looks like the Raiders made a really good deal to get Brown. But how good it ends up being will be predicated on how he and Carr connect as QB/WR.

If Brown once again becomes a malcontent from not getting the ball enough, things could fall off quick. If he stays happy, he will be a big asset for Gruden and the Raiders for a few years. He is, by all accounts, a really hard worker in the offseason and stays in great shape. That tends to lengthen careers. I can see Brown staying productive into his mid 30's. Not the monster receivers he has been, but still someone who defenses need to worry about.

As for Dallas, they still got a good deal for Cooper.

Cooper and Mack were not malcontents.

Mack just wanted to get paid and had conflict over that issue like most players in that situation.

Obviously A.Brown wanted to be a Raider because it resulted in a big pay raise with a big increase in guaranteed money. He also wanted away from the Steelers QB and away from having JuJu surpass him in total catches last season.

I applaud the concept of a total rebuild. That's how I would want to do it if the owner could withstand the fan criticism and possible reduction in attendance during the rebuild.
