Not that I remember. I read somewhere that those two kickoff return TDs in the fourth quarter happened for the first time ever in the Super Bowl era, which is 58 years old.
wow, anyone mad about juanyeh??? I'm glad he took it all the way :muttley:

BTW, the final few minutes defensively is yet more proof of GROZ 2.0. This was almost a carbon copy of the infamous Santana Moss game in 2005 that Dallas lost 14-13 by giving up two huge bomb TD passes because Zimmer backed off an otherwise good game to go prevent. The Cowboys missed the playoffs by one game that year, and this was the most egregious blown game compliments of Zimmer.

Most of the time Zimmer's defenses suck horribly because they can't stop the run, don't pressure QBs, and don't generate turnovers. But even when the defense plays well Zimmer's instincts are to ruin it at the end of the game with prevent mode.

I understand any Cowboys fan’s excitement over winning in Washington Sunday and I fault no one for being excited to get a win. But when I look back on what happened late in the 4th quarter, this was as freakish a NFL game as I’ve ever seen. It’s very hard for me to suddenly believe this team is any different than what we thought a week before. But a win is a win in the NFL…right?

Honestly, the final score was completely deceptive of the kind of game that was. It was really a game where the defense played pretty well while the offense was pretty mediocre at best. The game really came down to the last 7 min. Look at how crazy this sequence was:
  • At the end of the third qtr, the score was 10-9 Dallas.
  • With just over 7 min left in the game, it was 13-9 Cowboys, then Donovan Wilson forced a fumble, which Eric Kendricks recovered.
  • The Cowboys drove 44 yards in 5 plays with the Rush TD pass to Schoonmaker making 20-9 with just 5 min left.
  • Wash then made their long TD drive and two point conversion which made it 20-17 with 2:14 left.
  • Somehow Dan Quinn lost his mind and kicked to the best kickoff returner in football and Turpin took it home. 27-17 Dallas with 2:01 left.
  • Wash took 5 plays to get in FG range to make it 27-20 with 1: 40 left and their timeouts.
  • The Cowboys were able to milk the clock to where Wash got ball back at their own 14 with around 40 seconds and no timeouts.
  • Then, in one of the worst defensive meltdowns I’ve ever seen, Terry McLaurin somehow gets loose for an 86 yard miracle TD…and then their K shanks the PAT. 27-26 Cowboys.
  • Amazingly, on the ensuing on-sides kick, Juanyeh Thomas runs another KO back for a TD with 14 seconds left. 34-26.
That last 7 minutes of football is the craziest I‘ve ever seen. And the final score is completely deceptive. We went from 10-9 with 15 min left to a 34-26 final score. And if anyone thinks this Cowboys offense is better than it’s been…we had two TD drives- one a good 80 yard drive but the other was 44 yards after a TO.

A Cowboys win no matter how ugly is still a win. But this team is still not very good.
Two teams both going in the wrong direction, but I like that we played hard. We beat a team that has a bad defense and only won games because Daniels was getting them big leads. Since the O slowed down, they’ve lost 3 in a row because their defense is just as bad as ours has been this year.

I've never seen anything like it before either. But you are right, this team is still not very good.

The problem is now Jerry is convinced the season isn't over yet and we are still in it.
C'mon Jer, give us a break, it's over!

Backup QBs always seem to give the Cowboys trouble. There’s been several that have had career days.

Time to put on the tinfoil hat for this. (even if it's not serious):

If I were a head coach and pretty much knew my team was going to win the division, I'd absolutely allow the team to lose to a division opponent once to hurt their draft status for the next season. Not only would I win the division anyway, but I'd hurt their chances to win future divisions. *Now I take the tinfoil hat off and resume seriousness*

Quinn is a king of inexplicable decisions. Like his decision to play zone in the Green Bay playoff game when that was the strength of the opposing QB and a weakness of our defense.

This team nor it's coaching are not very good.... Just the TD after we scored a TD proves it... We lost this game a million ways but Washington gave us an out every time:laugh:

It's our family tradition to make home-made raviolis for Christmas every year. We make them ahead of time and freeze them till Christmas.
Wow that sounds delicious. I would love to abandon the Turkey for some ravioli on any holiday. We’ve done tamales and tacos for Christmas dinner but I can’t talk my wife into having an alternative Thanksgiving meal, lol.

The game ended up being highly entertaining, and a struggling Cowboys team got a win. What's not to like?

Great to have a little fun at Washington's expense on Sunday.

A perfect summation! This team is not very good and was the beneficiary of poor coaching from the opposition for a change.
The only thing this win accomplished was to fire-up the Jerry Jones hype machine.
