I understand any Cowboys fan’s excitement over winning in Washington Sunday and I fault no one for being excited to get a win. But when I look back on what happened late in the 4th quarter, this was as freakish a NFL game as I’ve ever seen. It’s very hard for me to suddenly believe this team is any different than what we thought a week before. But a win is a win in the NFL…right?

Honestly, the final score was completely deceptive of the kind of game that was. It was really a game where the defense played pretty well while the offense was pretty mediocre at best. The game really came down to the last 7 min. Look at how crazy this sequence was:
  • At the end of the third qtr, the score was 10-9 Dallas.
  • With just over 7 min left in the game, it was 13-9 Cowboys, then Donovan Wilson forced a fumble, which Eric Kendricks recovered.
  • The Cowboys drove 44 yards in 5 plays with the Rush TD pass to Schoonmaker making 20-9 with just 5 min left.
  • Wash then made their long TD drive and two point conversion which made it 20-17 with 2:14 left.
  • Somehow Dan Quinn lost his mind and kicked to the best kickoff returner in football and Turpin took it home. 27-17 Dallas with 2:01 left.
  • Wash took 5 plays to get in FG range to make it 27-20 with 1: 40 left and their timeouts.
  • The Cowboys were able to milk the clock to where Wash got ball back at their own 14 with around 40 seconds and no timeouts.
  • Then, in one of the worst defensive meltdowns I’ve ever seen, Terry McLaurin somehow gets loose for an 86 yard miracle TD…and then their K shanks the PAT. 27-26 Cowboys.
  • Amazingly, on the ensuing on-sides kick, Juanyeh Thomas runs another KO back for a TD with 14 seconds left. 34-26.
That last 7 minutes of football is the craziest I‘ve ever seen. And the final score is completely deceptive. We went from 10-9 with 15 min left to a 34-26 final score. And if anyone thinks this Cowboys offense is better than it’s been…we had two TD drives- one a good 80 yard drive but the other was 44 yards after a TO.

A Cowboys win no matter how ugly is still a win. But this team is still not very good.
Better said than my original post after the game where I pointed out it seemed the only winner of the game was the Eagles by giving them more breathing room in 1st place.

The most stupidest and idiotic play of the game is when Dallas ran the offside kick back in for a touchdown when there was under a minute in the game and Dallas had the lead, but Washington was out of time outs by that time I believe.

Yes, it added onto the score, but I believe there was still like 30 seconds left and it gave Washington the ball back, and although a long shot, could have tied the game with a score and a 2 point conversion.

When you're ahead by a score with under a minute in the game and the opposing team has run out of time outs, you get a offside kick you down the ball, take possession of the ball and run the game out, you don't make a quick score and give it back to your opponent. That should have been DRILLED into everyone's head. To many potential mistakes can happen trying to run the ball in.

After that last meltdown on the touchdown pass to McLaurin where he ran it in at least 50 yards after he caught the ball (with Dallas playing pass defense against the long ball), on that last play from Washington, I was expecting a hook a ladder pass to catch the cowboys with their pants down instead of trying to throw it in the end zone because of the length of the field (pass didn't even make it to the end zone).

CRAZY game and a win is a win, but I was really disappointed on how the cowboys closed the game out and it didn't really give me anything to build my hopes on going into the future.

I agree — the last 7 mins were wild. But I think a real factor in this game was the fact our D shut down their offense in the first half, even with short fields having been given up by the blocked FG and punt.

To only go into the half having given up 3 pts is really impressive. Washington is a 7 win team at home, and the D went in and handled their business— aside from the horrid “prevent” D played on the 80 yarder to McLaurin of course lol

The offense made enough plays when they had to. It was a wild, gritty win. No one will ever mistake this offense for a juggernaut, but the D may actually be rounding into form— as long as Zimmer keeps the prevent D off the field lol

They aren't, but for the first time since Pittsburgh i actually paid more attention than simply having the game on background. It was a lot of fun.

The down side was the project I was working on took about 2 hours more than it should have.

Wow that sounds delicious. I would love to abandon the Turkey for some ravioli on any holiday. We’ve done tamales and tacos for Christmas dinner but I can’t talk my wife into having an alternative Thanksgiving meal, lol.
As an Italian, we have always have some type of pasta for all the holidays. For Thanksgiving, we have the traditional turkey AND we also have pasta with marinara sauce.
