That is what I was talking about to an extent. Not only do you see being gay as a problem. A problem is something generally thought as something that can be fixed, but more importantly it is that you don't see it as something occurring in your area. I am 100% sure there are gay people in your area. I am 100% sure that if those people haven't come out it is because thinking like this above and if I'm not mistaken yours and likely others thoughts that it is disgusting and immoral. (I believe you said that, if not I apologize).

It isn't about hero worship for the gay community, it is about young people not feeling alone and isolated. That is how I look at it.

Sure, I know several gay people that lives in my area. I should have made myself clear. The problem is the public displays in cities such as San Francisco with the parades and rallys. Gays in my area consider the matter private as it should be. I don't know if gay can be fixed or not. I have never thought about it. Yes, it is against my morals and I find the thought of it disgusting. I don't hate the person. I hate the things they do. It is something that I don't I don't have to deal with.

Should I be flattered? LOL I saw some of the most disgusting things ever in the middle of the street on a Sunday afternoon. It was Mardi Gras. I am sure that had something to do with it. Yes, it freaked me out. The big cowboy told me his name amd said he was from Bonham, Texas. I happened to have a cousin that was a cop in Bonham. My cousin told me that the guy was married and held political office there. Go figure. I guess he was bisexual.

Geez, I thought that sort of thing only happened in movies! :laugh2:

Yeah, Mardi Gras is a trip. I recently went back to NO for a wedding and Bourbon St is a lot more fun when it's not jam packed with people. I had a lot more in on my second trip, although I did get to ride and throw from a float the first time I went.

It's interesting to hear the people who said they didn't care. So why did you click on this thread? Why did you feel compelled to respond?

Doesn't sound like not caring. From the views and posts, this appears to be something people care about.

You're mistaking caring about people who care with caring about the issue itself.

Didn't want to put this in the Andy Griffith thread, but it made me think.

I'm sorry, I watched a lot of his shows, but I forget, who was the token 'gay' character in that show?

Oh, that's right, there wasn't one. That was before they started splashing homosexuality in our faces in every TV show. Now there either is a gay character, or the show is about gays.

And we are all supposed to think that that is normal, and ok.

That was before people would publicly come out of the closet and announce their homosexuality on a national stage, and before the debate over same-gender marriage.

There is a whole generation being raised to think that they are intolerant if they object to any of this. That there is something wrong with them if they disagree with homosexuality.

They are taught that this is normal and just the way it is, when it wasn't that long ago that it was not that way.

Just ask Andy, Barney, or Aunt Bea.

Just reading about and remembering Andy Griffith and Mayberry made me realize how much we have allowed our morals to slide as a nation.

I don't remember any token black people on that show either. I believe they may have been one on Mayberry RFD. Maybe some of our morals needed to slide.

Yeah, great morality you are showing here. Telling gay people they are not normal. Trying to shame them for who they are. People with your attitudes are the sick ones.

And that's exactly why every damn gay person who is high profile should come out. Put it in your face and show you that 1000s of successful and normal people are gay.

Bottom line... I don't care who you are screwing... male or female...

Keep it to yourself and do your job... bottom line...

That's totally BS.

Any straight celeb can be out in public with an opposite sex partner, show affection, etc. without anyone thinking much of it.

Totally not the same thing for a gay celeb. Unless they are "out" they just cannot have any sort of public relationship. That often would mean not being seen regularly in public with their partner.

There is a huge difference. Your "keep it to yourself" belief really means "hide it"
