Anonymous Dallas assistant coach says our WRs don’t win

They don’t come back for the ball. The wait on it and let the defender bat the ball away. Plus a few of them body catch too often. They need a guy like Dez who used to go and get it.
 
This is how a coach loses a team.

First the win/loss record.
Then the sniping of players in the media.
The WRs are not winning. Individual WRs saying We ARE getting open.

It's just the start and if the losing continues it will continue.

This is not some Diva Player situation like with Dez over the years. Spouting off because they are not getting the ball or a TO and so on.

This is coaches talking to the media. This is WRs (more than one) saying they are getting open and are not getting the ball.

For years when someone says that Garrett is losing the team I would argue that I had seen no signs of it. No signs of them quitting on the field like they did with Wade.
No signs other than a diva WR Like TO or Dez complaining on the sidelines or in the media.

However different WRs are complaining to the media now. Now we got a coach saying otherwise but not putting his name on it.

If they continue to lose, this HC is going to lose this team. At the very least the OC will lose the offensive players faith.

And if Dak continues to get hit he will get tired of the coaches, media and players going after him as well.

Maybe they are true, but we already knew this group aren't pro bowlers. So blaming them for not being ab or Julio is dumb. Your boy isn't good enough to help make a wr make a play, they have to make a play inspite of him.
 
Our coaches including our assistant coaches don't win either. Tank the season and clean house.
If we had a FO who had a clue, that's what would happen and quickly.

I'd agree if we were truly starting over but there is no evidence of that.

Not yet but, the evidence is clear and the hurricane of losses is just over the horizon. We are moving rapidly to being the worst team in the league
and there's not much to stop the slide.

Hate to say it but I hope you're right because that's the only way real change will happen. Just seen enough with this coach that he'll somehow get to 8-8 and save himself again.

Been telling y'all the problem isn't Dak.

These receivers SUCK and it shows. This anonymous Cowboys assistant coach is CORRECT.

He also needed to mention the Oline. Horrible performance thus far for a bunch of 1st round picks and talent.

Fix those 2 things, this team will start winning.

Yep, sometimes you have to go bankrupt or hit rock bottom for your vision to be changed. Jerry is stubborn and usually
responds way too late rather than way too early. The big wave is coming and he will get blasted in less than two months.
 
I thought we got separation receivers? Not fight for jump ball receivers?

When they show a replay of Beasley 1v1 with a DB and he has his man beat and Dak instead throws the ball for Zeke for a lost. Sorry that's not on the receiver.
 
Obviously there is more than 1 problem. Fans watch the games and see opposing teams throw an 8 yard out against us with the DB 2-3 yards off the receiver and we push them out of bounds.

For us, it's a flat reception on or near the (or beyond) scrimmage line with a defender draped all over the receiver, so unless our receiver can break a tackle or make a move, we get next to nothing.

Why???? The number 1 reason (IMHO) is that Dak is holding the ball too long and his windup is way to slow. This allows the DBs, LBs to read the throw (and react) before or close to when the ball arrives. Basically timing and deception.

My thoughts if I'm an opposing DB or coverage LBer. Watch Dak drop back, go over his progressions. Maybe I'm beat for a second, then Dak sees it and makes the throw. His decision time and windup gives me a chance to recover. Now if Dak throws the ball so it arrives as I was beat, then I'm in trouble, no worries though, he rarely does that. Not a lot of pump fakes from that QB Dak, thank god because I was beat, but I have time to recover. Also, watch for and play the dump off tight, since he does that the majority of the time.

Think about a few of the most successful passes this year, like the bomb to Austin against NY and the fly to Gallup against Det. Both were quick drops, then let it fly. Dak really wasn't going through progressions so he wasn't holding onto the ball trying to process where to throw.

As to the original OP, yeah we don't win a lot of those closely contested balls, but why do we have so many? Also, we did have a guy that one most of those contested balls, who even wanted to come back and I would have signed him, if on the cheap. But no, we'll keep on just doing the same thing.

Stephen put a squash on the RPOs, which is the best thing that Dak does, absolutely unbelievable. Obviously he's afraid of getting Dak hurt. But freaking 40 year old Brees is doing it in NO???

Could you imagine if Dak were to sustain an injury and Rush or White came in and had better timing and anticipation? Maybe actually improve the passing game? You would have to ask, how much more stupid would our coaches and front office look?

Hence, no more RPOs.

The play was called to go to Zeke.

It seems like the only group that isn’t exempt from any criticism on this team is the Wr’s. They get it no vaseline by every group of the media. The cowboys and Jerry’s need to get this under wraps. It’s creates a bad atmosphere for prospective wrs to want to come here especially when you consider the fact that most of our staff are vets. Our top 3 wr’s on the depth chart this week are all undrafted. What did this great franchise of ours expect?

True, not all but, Dak is a marginal QB at best and has a very limited set of QB skills. His decision processing ability and
passing mechanics is very problematic. He's only a backup QB at best. Hard to build a winner with those limitations.
