I really hope that Hitchens works out, but that seems really high in the draft for a guy they probably could have nabbed in the 5th or sixth. Not sure who is setting up their board, but they really need to do a little self-reflection on getting the best talent they can in this round. Since 2009, they have picked Stephen McGee, Victor Butler, Brandon Williams, AOA, David Arkin, Kyle Wilber, Danny Coale and BW Webb to go with Hitchens. Not much production from this group imo.

Next time they want to trade up, they should use their fourth with confidence that they are not missing out on anything anyway.

I don't care what the media is saying. I don't see how this guy is a fit. Looks like a SAM to me.

It's an assumption because he thinks McShay or Rang are in accord with all NFL teams.

This guy is not the typical 4th round measurables project like AOA. He is a 3 year stater and leading tackler from a major program. His measurables are just good enough. He runs in the 4.6s and his other combine measurables are decent.

He has a bad body with bad weight. He is instinctual and plays sepcial teams. We drafted a backup.

Why do you say he could have been available in the 5th or 6th? What is your evidence of this?

Yes, you're right. None of us have done professional scouting and are using the general consensus from draft write-ups on the internet. All we have is every person knowledgeable in the field saying he could likely have been taken two rounds later.

The argument from ignorance is fun.

Draft write-ups....from amateurs.

I could do a draft write-up.

This was a Tony Romo pick, Romo needed a basketball partner over the weekends.

We thoroughly enjoy the message board scouts and GMs,

Yeah because the GM we have now is extremely competent.

Another pathetic draft by Jerry. Drafting a spare Big 10 guy in the 4th when by many accounts, he was much lower. Some even had him going in the supplemental draft or not at all. Traded our 3rd.

And people wonder why we have one single playoff win in the last 17 or 18 years.

This is your evidence. Those 2 or 3 days every year in April.

Im sorry but most of us here could have done a better job over these last 18 years, I mean, how many mistakes has JJ made and keeps making?

He seems pretty quick though. 10 yard split is 1.57.

The draft media had him rated lower and we know they are always correct.

The "draft media" are actually usually pretty good at setting where players will go. I don't recall many times players were selected three rounds earlier than they projected. If they are off, it is usually the other way setting too high a grade on someone who if they fall is usually due to off the field or injury issues.

I really hope the Cowboys know something the "draft media" doesn't when it comes to this pick. Time will tell.

Oh, I don't dare defend that room, not that I am completely ticked about this draft. I just don't believe they're a chess-playing organization.

I simply enjoy the long threads debating player breakdowns and slotting. The folks spending so much time with that are a giggle to me.
