Another 4th round miss?

The "draft media" are actually usually pretty good at setting where players will go. I don't recall many times players were selected three rounds earlier than they projected. If they are off, it is usually the other way setting too high a grade on someone who if they fall is usually due to off the field or injury issues.

I really hope the Cowboys know something the "draft media" doesn't when it comes to this pick. Time will tell.

In the top 100 but not after that they are not.

Im sorry but most of us here could have done a better job over these last 18 years, I mean, how many mistakes has JJ made and keeps making?

If I had the energy, I would type them out. But I don't.

You can start with the Joey Galloway and Roy Williams trades. That set this team back a lot.

Then add for years, loving to drop out the 1st round. Drafting Felix Jones. The 2009 Special Teams/Depth draft. Escobar in the 2nd. trading the 2nd for Claiborne. Trading your 3rd this year.

And many more....

This was a "scout pick".

You cannot blame Jerry Jones for this one if it fails.

When it does (not if), you can point the finger right at Will McClay and the rest of the scouting staff.

Honestly 1st Round and 2nd Round I liked but this pick was a major reach TERRIBLE much better players available.....

But it is so fun to blame Jerry!!!;)

This is true. It's not a Jerry pick.

It's an assumption because he thinks McShay or Rang are in accord with all NFL teams.

This guy is not the typical 4th round measurables project like AOA. He is a 3 year stater and leading tackler from a major program. His measurables are just good enough. He runs in the 4.6s and his other combine measurables are decent.

He has a bad body with bad weight. He is instinctual and plays sepcial teams. We drafted a backup.

I don't see bad body with bad weight. He had an excellent burst when closing. He has almost Sean Lee like instincts. Great play recognition. Looks like a solid 4th round pick to me. He'll be a long term starter.

How often are you trolling other teams message boards and hearing this gnashing of teeth?

Most of these guys being taken now you have never heard of and have no clue where the "draft media" had them going.

You only focus on the Cowboys players.

You're arguing from a place of ignorance.

And how much time do you think Kiper spent studying these mid and late round picks? 3 minutes?

I enjoy following the draft as much as the next guy, but I do not pretend to make heads or tails over who is going to do what next season, much less three years from next season. All we have to go on here is what the other internet nerds put out there for us, i.e. "scout rankings and the like. I, too, use that as a barometer, but I understand there is a probability of error associated with the unknown.

My message board GM comment had more to do with the lengthy arguments posed by self-anointed scouts. C'mon, even you have to realize that is high comedy. It was in no way meant to defend the Dallas front office or their draft prowess.

I don't care what the media is saying. I don't see how this guy is a fit. Looks like a SAM to me.

Actually I think they (the Cowboys fitness staff) cuts about 5-10lbs off his frame, increases his speed and he becomes a candidate on the weakside... And maybe a backup middle guy.

He has bad weight as in his body fat % is too high. I didn't comment on his actual performance in that context. I agree he runs well.
