Another Cole Beasley thread

I have not seen a thread on this, but what the heck is up with Beasley? He has almost disappeared from the offense, and he has to be the worst punt returner in the league. How many times is this guy going to call for a fair catch inside the 15 and 10 yard line. This is maddening when it comes to field position.

Zeke is taking his catches. Bease is expendable at this point.

The Fair Catches inside the 10 are driving me nuts!
This has been going on for years now.

He's never caught a punt inside the 8. He's caught three at the 9 and three at the 8 in his career. I doubt that's very different from any other punt returner, given that you're looking up and have to estimate where you are. I see guys catch kicks at or inside the 5 all the time; he's never made that kind of mistake.

He's also only ever muffed one catch. But it's true that he sure doesn't bring any upside to the punt return game.

Dak throws his recievers under the bus? That is news to me. I cant believe any thread on this site has the potential to become a Dak bashing fest. Stick to the other 100 Dak bashing areas on this site.

He entered the season as the backup punt returner. Even when the primary punt returner is healthy, they use him when they want a safe catch because he is sure-handed. They did it with Tavon Austin as the primary returner and they've done it going back to when Lucky Whitehead was the primary returner.

In other words, they've never expected to get much return yardage from Beasley, only a cleanly fielded punt.

As a WR, Amari Cooper happened.

They also been able to get the TEs involved and Gallup gets a fair share targets.

He's not a starter and they used a lot of 2 TE sets sunday.

Beasley's performance sometimes is predicated on quick plays and since Amari joined the fold, there is more down-field passing going on and not quick reads....I have stated 100 times that I want to see these guys with a legit OC and then judge how good they can be...that include the beas....I like the guy as a player but I don't see him getting too involved in game plans right now

he is the type of guy that will end up with brady or brees and do very well....

League wide, there have only been 5 returns for a td, no more than 1 by any individual player. The most total returns by any player is 29, after 13 games, that's only about 2 returns per game. The best average is 16.3, but if you take away his long return of 71 yards, otherwise he's averaging only 12.1.

With the new rules there aren't going to be many returns, fewer long returns, and fewer still return tds.

Beasley's "lack of production" is such a small part of the team's play it's hardly anything that's worth mentioning...
