If it's due to lack of evidence nothing should be done. But I've been seeing more and more stories about outright lying. Those cases need to absolutely be punished and severely.

I just read a story a few weeks back about a former high school or college football player who was convicted of sexual assault. He spent 6 years in jail before the girl came out on Facebook and said she made the whole thing up. That girl absolutely needs to be punished and severely.
I hope dude has some $$$ coming his way

You know....If this turns out to be false...I'm all for changing the law to a felony for accusing someone of sexual assault...And it turns out to be BS. Ruining peoples lives sure seems to be the rage now days. Everyone looking for a quick payday. Sometimes.... Capitalism sucks.:(
That's not capitalism. That's someone using the court system to play the lottery.

I hope he has something good coming his way. That woman ruined his life and reputation with no consequences. He'll get the 20k per year served for being jailed wrongfully, but that's nothing compared to six years of his life. I'm sure he could get something done in civil court, but good luck getting money from someone if they don't have it.

At least its off his record.

And he if he wants to tell his story, he may be able to get a little dough writing a book

So you think everyone should have a free pass to accuse someone of rape regardless of truth? They should be able to sue school districts for money for fake crimes? Someone should be in jail because the false accuser wants money? Something might be seriously wrong with you.

If the police can prove it's a fake allegation the woman should face a lengthy prison sentence. Not if her allegations can't be proven but if it can be proven she lied. That needs to be a crime with a severe penalty.

I'm assuming it would be perjury. Wouldnt she have to give sworn testimony at some point

Sexual assault is a devastating crime that attacks the body but just as importantly attacks the mind. I'm not for anything that makes it harder for women (or men) to come forward. Even if that means a few more false positives.

Imagine being a woman who maybe puts herself in a compromising position. She has limited evidence to use on her attacker. And now it's a felony if you can't prove an accusation. Why would you come forward?
I disagree. While I don't condone rape or violence towards women at all, it is naive in the extreme to say that false accusations

I disagree. While I in no way condone rape or physical violence against women, it is naive in the extreme to think that there are lots of women who see this as a means to improve their financial situation. It can cost some men four young men their reputations as well as their livelihood. When this is proven the woman should be held legally responsible just as when her allegations are proven true the man is held accountable.

I think protecting the victim is reasonable until proven otherwise. Then if the alleged victim is proven false charge her.

Exactly. This attitude that the woman must always be believed is idiotic. Look at what happened with Zeke.

There are laws to punish those who lie but all too often now they are let go with no consequences which only encourages others to do the same.

AND I will remind those crying about this that every time false charges get placed it damages the rights and situations of those truly victimized by abuse and sexual assault.

Nevertheless, I find your username a bit disturbing.:omg::laugh:

Maybe Jerry gets another La'el Collins after the draft.;)

I haven't heard anything concrete.....But I did hear Myles Garrett has been staying in Cleveland...Getting to know the area...finding a place to live. I find it unbelievable the Cleveland DA is pushing this under the rug as hard as he is. Something tells me the Browns are swaying this...so the draft doesn't blow up in their face.

They don't want to deal w/ the backlash of selecting someone that is accused of sexual assualt w/ the top pick....before the draft. But I can see them taking the heat...after the pick....and their story will be the all famous..."but we didn't know about the investigation."

Right now the player being guessed at the most is Malik Hooker.

Jerry and the Cowboys are playing the entire league!

False allegations drop Myles Garrett down to #28.

Reuben Foster acts up at the combine and has a diluted sample, pick #60.

Jabrill Peppers has another diluted sample, he drops to round 3.

And we pick up a top cornerback like Jones or Lewis in round 4 due to their current situations.

Cowboys fix their defense overnight!
;)

I get the joke, but if players like Hooker, Dalvin Cook, Foster, Peppers, etc. drop, all that is going to do is suck the cleaner prospects up and test Dallas' resolve should red flag players fall into their laps. I would prefer some other team being the ones tempted to take risks.

I fully understand that talent trumps all, but invariably any risk player we take ends up living out the worst case scenario. The microscope is so tight when someone is a Cowboy.

Why do you keep mentioning Myles Garrett...even in your original post?
This is a guy with a higher Wonderlic than almost anyone in the draft, who is not known as a partier at all, and seems very far removed from this scenario.

I've seen nobody else but you mention him.
CowboyZone threads pop up on Google searches sometimes.
I'd be careful not to perpetuate this unfounded stuff.
