Wrong info.

I did a split screen: One screen showing Deuce's video of his only 40 yard run at his Pro Day. The other showing an extremely accurate stop watch app. I timed his run 5 different times (screenshots below)...

I timed Deuce Vaughn's Pro Day 40 run in the 4.4s. His fastest time was at 4.44. His slowest was at 4.47. All 5 times were under 4.5. I'm even going to include the video link below so you can time his 40 run yourself. Whoever said he ran in the 4.6s is absolutely wrong and needs to get a new stop watch.

Deuce Vaughn is a legit 4.4s type of RB. He's plenty of fast enough.
You don't even need a 40 time just look at his td runs in college. It's obvious that he isn't slow.

Hope he does the same in the NFL, mainly the enemies in the NFCE.
I really think he'll be similar to Darren Sproles.

He's the perfect addition to a Dak-led offense and will make a difference almost immediately.

Ok, so if he's not a true running back, then hes in competition for that 5th WR spot?

Unless your one of those that think he can replace Turpin?

That 5th WR needs to play special teams. You want Vaughn running down trying to tackle someone or Fehoko?
Long term Deuce is most in competition with Turpin for the 53, but more likely he's in completion for a place on the practice squad this year.

Conceivable that Turpin has some trade value and they cash him out, but with the changes to the rules returners are less valuable.

Turpin needs to show something on offense, particularly if Deuce looks decent on returns, which seems likely.

If this coaching staff uses this guy right, he is going to make some heads turn. Watch his vision when he runs, he is always looking for open avenues to run. I know, if it wasnt for Pollard, we would all be scratching our head as to what that means :)

I canna say enough about the lad. The talent is there, no doubt.
Deuce Vaughn needs to be eased in our attack, and when he dazzles enough to also become a decoy/diversion.

Ah, I canna wait until autumn when leaves crunch beneath our work boots, when it gets cooler and @5Stars roasts 50 pounds of Hatch chiles and the announcer yells "Out of nowhere, the ball is flipped to Deuce and nothing but turf ahead! 6 points!"

Or we can not use some unknown stop watch app and use the number reported out by most sites, including his own schools.

4.56
Deuce does not look like he has long speed.

If you watch his long runs, the defenders are often gaining on him toward the end.

Really enjoyed watching Deuce when he was playing.
He reminded me of Tavon Austin.
Tavon was mostly a WR and did not pan out in the NFL
However one time they were forced to play him at RB vs Oklahoma due to injury issues
and he tore that up. One of the best games by a RB I have ever seen in college.

Hopefully Deuce will make it with the Cowboys. I think he can make plays in the screen game coming out of the backfield and I also think he can be a good back up RB that gets a few touches per game.

There are far more stuffs than big runs. You dont have the meager YPC average that he did unless he was stopped a lot to offset those big, hilight real runs.

And he won't have those in the NFL. Maybe some other league.
5.5 ypc for his college career...

Also, he was #1 in receiving yards for all RBs drafted in 2023...

Thats how I see it. He'll get a couple years on the practice squad to work on being a returner. If he can develop into that and prove he can hold up as a PS RB, then maybe he becomes our returner down the road.

Yeah, very short runners all look quick. Its kind of an optical illusion. Because their legs are moving more times than others around them. If that makes sense.

Deuce has enough speed. He does look a little faster than the 4.56 reported. But hes not electric quick like other very small running backs to give it a go. Take a guy like Lindsy(sp) with the Broncos a few years ago. He was also heavier.

Duece doesnt have that instant acceleration. He has a nice 2nd and 3rd gear. His lack of elite long speed will catch up to him in the NFL. Literally.

Austin was a whole other level of fast and explosive when he came out. No body could ever really figure out how to use him though.

They clocked him at 21 mph on a TD run lst year only better time was the fastets guy in the NCAA Darius Davis from TCU who went over 23mph on a TD run..he is not slow.

I believe Deuce's clocked mph time was just short of 22 mph. It was at 21.8 mph. That's plenty of fast enough.
DV must have played against a lot of really slow defenses, all I ever see is DV pulling away.
Speed vs Quickness vs vision vs elusiveness,, all part of the equation.
If I get two of those top four credentials, than I might have something special.
