He's a speedy little mouse I'll tell you that! lol. What I mean is when he enters the game, the defense is going to key on him big time, however, that might open up something else that the defense was not prepared for and while they are watching him, BAM, a long ball downfield for an Int! J/k

I
If this coaching staff uses this guy right, he is going to make some heads turn. Watch his vision when he runs, he is always looking for open avenues to run. I know, if it wasnt for Pollard, we would all be scratching our head as to what that means :)

I agree! I get the feeling that DV will be too good to keep off the field!

Deuce seems plenty savvy and shifty enough to do some big things on offense for us.

He can be quite exciting. Whether the consistency is there or not remains to be seen.

It's more than doubtful that he'll become a blocking wonder, but he's like a water bug.

His lack of size simply means he’s not going to break many tackles or push any piles.
His vision and elusiveness in the backfield and open field is what’s exciting.

However, his lack of speed is a bit concerning. Even in his highlight videos, we see players running him down from behind. I don’t anticipate many long TD runs in the NFL. His best 40 time is 4.6. He’s quick, but you just aren’t going to run away from NFL players with legs that short. Darren Sproles was 5’6” but 190 and ran a 4.49 forty at the combine, but reportedly once ran a 4.36 and was rated 74 of 100 score on speed. Maybe Deuce will be a poor man’s Sproles, Sproles light, and that would be quite an accomplishment.

Wrong info.

I did a split screen: One screen showing Deuce's video of his only 40 yard run at his Pro Day. The other showing an extremely accurate stop watch app. I timed his run 5 different times (screenshots below)...

I timed Deuce Vaughn's Pro Day 40 run in the 4.4s. His fastest time was at 4.44. His slowest was at 4.47. All 5 times were under 4.5. I'm even going to include the video link below so you can time his 40 run yourself. Whoever said he ran in the 4.6s is absolutely wrong and needs to get a new stop watch.

Deuce Vaughn is a legit 4.4s type of RB. He's plenty of fast enough.

It seems we just like to argue about our players. So far nobody has done anything that we could call real as far as actually judging their talent. Even once the pads come on, the vets aren't going to be going at it 100% for awhile. What we're left with is highlight reels & college production.

I'm stoked about Deuce. Sure I have my doubts, but right now I'm willing to remain upbeat until he actually fails. His highlight reels aren't just 2 minute clips or against one team.

LOL, a lot of guys here think he's a gimmick player because of his size and a 6th rd pick......that is the farthest thing from the truth. He is a football player...doesn't need any gimmick plays to blow past the LOS.

Heck even Barry Sanders looked pedestrian many times behind the LOS....then he blew by you.
No but every player like this that's all we use them as, we jet sweep them to death, and an occasional screen pass to them

There are far more stuffs than big runs. You dont have the meager YPC average that he did unless he was stopped a lot to offset those big, hilight real runs.

And he won't have those in the NFL. Maybe some other league.
High variance. Most of the time it doesn't work. And less likely it works in the NFL.

But that's why I see him more as a slot receiver/jet sweep than a RB. So crazy quick, he is going to get *very* open *sometimes*. And as one of many receiving options, that *sometimes* is all you need.

Always looks very natural as a pass catcher to me.

That they signed Deuce also gives me hope that they'll start using Pollard more effectively in the passing game.

If somehow he could be fused with Kavonte Turpin, we might get one football player out of it.

Or we can not use some unknown stop watch app and use the number reported out by most sites, including his own schools.

Ok, so if he's not a true running back, then hes in competition for that 5th WR spot?

Unless your one of those that think he can replace Turpin?

That 5th WR needs to play special teams. You want Vaughn running down trying to tackle someone or Fehoko?

All great to see. But what about the runs he didn't make, or got stuffed or 1 or 2 yard gains?

Not to down play it. But no RB runs like the in the NFL all the time. They will need to design some pretty good plays, and hope it takes some time before the defenses to figure it out.

I think he can have some success. But how often will he be in the game. I guess a strong TC will help with that.
Well, he routinely destroyed OU, TCU, Texas, and even Alabama.

Hope he does the same in the NFL, mainly the enemies in the NFCE.
Since his draft selection 8 Saturdays ago, Vaughn has by far been the most contradictory addition to the Cowboys' roster going into training camp.
Many, many CZers - through their immediate responses to the pick, or what they predicted the player will wind up being when the 2023 season
gets underway - are so wide-ranging in the result that it is definitely a top 5 story to follow - starting in Oxnard.
