One thing that stands out about K Smith is his vision, anticipation, instincts and balance.

Of course, you can't put a stopwatch or measure any of these things, so it's not going to make him a popular player in the offseason underwear olympics.

Agreed.

Everyone is putting too much emphasis on these 40 times. It's how guys like Emmitt last until No. 17.

Oh, and it's worth noting that Mosely was the first to drop Anthony Spencer's name in the weeks leading up to last year's draft.

He has a pretty good source(s) at Valley Ranch.

I am a UCF Alumn and watched a lot of his games over the last three years. UCF's QB play has been very inconsistant and other teams often stacked eight or more in the box against him. Despite that, he still got major yards and was never caught from behind despite the rumors of his suspect speed. His first run from scrimmage in 2007 went for 80 yards against NC State. He very rarely got stuffed in the backfield despite getting confronted there often. He does very well with his blocking assignments and catches the ball well out of the backfield. He also shows excellent vision and cut-back ability. Most of the rumors out there about his being a system running back and his slow speed are inaccurate and made by people that have never watched him play in a live game, since UCF get very little TV exposure.

Out of curiousity, does Smith fumble "often", or is he secure with the football?

I believe that he has only fumbled once or twice in his three years at UCF.

Why is it apparent? I've seen nothing to indicate that, other than fans and writers guessing.

The first back they looked at in the Senior Bowl was Chris Johnson. Jerry and company have talked about replacing Julius with a 3rd down back type and/or a "change of pace" back.

That's why it's apparent. Not to mention that Mosely guesses all of the time and tries to report it as fact. Hell, Matt McBriar was supposed to be cut two years ago according to Mosely after he shanked a punt because Mosely was stating he could read Parcells' lips.

That's just one prime example of his shoddy journalism. He's a hack. That's why he fits in so well at ESPN.

Spencer's name was bantied about by a lot of writers possibly going to Dallas. In fact, I had Dallas drafting Spencer in my mock draft and I do not have a source at Dallas.

I don't know why anybody would laugh off Talib. He's been though to be a middle to late first round pick all along and he didn't have a horrendous combine so his draft stock should stay the same. Color me unimpressed that a writer could say that Dallas was interested in Talib. Of course they would be.

Hi Joe, another UCF grad here. The folks talking down on Smith simply haven't seen him play. He was, almost singlehandedly, the Knight offense this past season in spite of the fact everybody knew who the ball was going to. I would love to see this guy as a Dallas Cowboy.

I think he was the first to mention him, though. At least that's the first time I saw Spencer's name linked to Dallas.

Hey, I'm not a Mosley fan, but you really seem to have a hatred for the guy.

Glad to see that there is another Central Florida Grad on the Board! Man, if these folks saw Kyle Israel throw one of his many ill-times picks they would totally understand just how little respect other teams had for the Central Florida Air Attack.

I'll chime in and say that I would be more than fine with getting Smith. Yeah, having a bunch of speed is nice, but it's also overrated. I was one of those guys who was just sure that defenses still feared Julius more than Barber until every single defender and opposing coach kept talking about how much more concerned they were with Barber...So I would much rather have a good football player than a specialist.

What I think is kind of interesting is that Moseley is mentioning a lot of guys who should probably be taken in the second round or later. Makes me think that Dallas has already set their sights on moving down with one of those first rounders.

Good point and that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Jerry rarely sits still.

I just dislike hack reporters/journalists. He certainly fits the bill. He also guesses a lot and treats it like the truth, I can't help but let people know about this and how he should be taken with a grain of salt. The same goes for other writers like Galloway, the Engels, Mort, Florio, etc.

Yep, Mosely was mentioning him back when everyone was convinced the Cowboys were going to draft the highest WR on the board, no matter what.

Also, Mosely sits next to Jeff Ireland at football games and picks his brain for 3-4 hours. He has coaches and NFL personnel people on his speed dial. I think that puts him a different category than Mike Florio.
