Apparently, Darren McFadden was dominating one-on-one drills today.

How is this guy any better than Randle?

This topic isn't even a dead horse at this point. It's a mutilated, squashed, mush of what was once a dead horse.

Basically every young running back in the league qualifies for a thread like this right now. It's becoming exhausting.

Can't wait for week 1.

Question is why should we give the reigns to Randle without even having any competition whatsoever? Is Randle so good that he just blows everyone away?

The runningback was one of the reasons why we had such a successful season. If its gonna be runningback by committee Dallas should look towards other alternatives. McFragile is made of glass and Dunbar is nothing more than a below average back. We could do better than what we have now.

Competition???? You are talking about a guy they may end being a cast off or buried on another teams depth chart. Being a former stud at major college does not make you anything, it gets you a look but the list is long and distinguished of major college studs that ended up being major NFL duds. I would almost say being major college stud running back is almost the kiss of death in the NFL.

Nothing wrong with competition. If you like Gus Johnson or Melena on the PS why not Kadeem Carey? Better track record against better competition. He will not beat out Randle but churn that roster! Especially the RB position.

I am all for competition but the team has to do its due diligence, just signing/trading for JAG RB when you have no idea what is on your team or at the very least the talent on your team is equivalent to what is on the street. There is reason why they holding tight with what they have there is no one available worth a pick or brings something that the current stable of backs bring, Johnson is a bruiser we have 2 scat backs in Dunbar and seastrunk, and we have two "all around" backs in Randle and DMC. When I mean all around backs they can play in any formation unlike Dunbar and Seastrunk

For the uninformed, here's a video of KC, note the defenses he went against, like UCLA and Oregon.

Last years 4th round pick of the Bears who only got 36 carriers his rookie year, and now the new regime brought in Jaquizz and drafted Langford. Despite only the 36 carries he did manage a very solid 158 yards showing the same great vision and downhill running style that made him great at Arizona.

So basically what I'm trying to get at is that THIS is the type of RB we should be targeting instead of washed up guys like CJ. I'm sure if we offered the Bears a conditional late pick right now we could bring this kid in to compete for the #1 job.

If you can get him for a late round pick get him, worth the chance.

Just ask McFragile!

So you think this team has absolutely no confidence in Randle, McFadden, and Dunbar?

this is getting boring. we have 2 confidences in the RB stable, they can run forward and they will get hurt. Now being updated, you still have to compensate for the injuries.

I realize he was super productive at college, but looking at his combine numbers, nothing stands out. I think there will be much more intriguing backs once teams start making cuts.

This.

Unless Superman, The Flash and Captain America are already in line to compete, that is.

Thanks for posting the video, that guy is hilarious to watch run ... runs really hard, major balance and body control, hopping and skipping past defenders. When he finally goes down he ends up pulling the pile into a contorted tangle due to the effort for one more yard. He gives defenders the limp leg on the low hits and keeps on going with the other leg. Fun to watch.

Why this fascination with all these backs that are no better, and probably worse, than the ones that are here?

I get that, but it shows you how he managed to run over 1800+ plus yards against tough defenses. I mean even our legendary Emmitt Smith only ran a 4.55/4.6 40...its game speed that matters and with this line Kadeem would be running wild.

I hear Charlie Chickenface wants a try out. With the probablity of Randle and DMC being hurt at the same time, during a season we should be pushing for a SB. I say we give him a shot.

Put them all on the PS. 10 Running Backs on the Practice Sqaud....draw straws to see who plays..

I'm not asking for someone to unseat our top 2 guys. I'm talking about these udfa we have. We are brining in street players and I'm all for it. But, if you can get a guy in with a pedigree to compete with the likes of Gus and Melena, why not? Due diligence is also looking at premium cuts coming up. (Matt Moore come to mind?)

At RB our guys have done nothing. Randle will be the starter and I'm all for it. McFadden is a question and the biggest question is his health. Mind you, 1 month to the season and he hasnt even been a full go in practice. THIS from a guy who needs to be healthy to see his worth. THIS from a RB who gets injured and stays injured. THIS from a RB who needs to make it through camp let alone a real game.

Dunbar is in the same situation. I'm sure you don't have faith in their durability. You'll be holding your breath as much as I am this season.

That's where getting that third and PS player is important. I'm going into the season thinking one of our top 2 RBs is going down and I have no faith in Dunbar Melena and Gus.

What I'm looking at is picking up potential from an already deep RB team and unlike those teams we don't have the luxury to even release Lance Dunbar because he is the best 3rd/scat back we can get. I mean really? SD has Oliver and Woodhead. So please forgive me for not having faith in our backups and losing patience. Dunbar? What has he done other than being a preseason twitter all star? I've been waiting for this potential I'm hearing about. Not that it's not there but he hasn't don't crap when we called his name.

I sure hope Randle can stay healthy this season because I'm expecting him to carry the load with the backups he has.

They have decided to not yet extend Forte (this is his last year) and they just went BPA when they took Langford in the mid rounds.
Carey may very well be their future #1

Otherwise, I think most of us around here would like to have him at low or no cost, to compete.
Just remember....he is as proven as Randle is.

He is proven like Randle is? Haha that's funny cause Randle scored TDs and had almost 7 yards a carry. Now if your talking about as a starter then yes I agree but Randle has flashed much more talent at this point

Well, my point was that those complaining about Randle's lack of track record need to take closer look at Casey before recommending him.
