BTW, Merry Christmas.

Our heros had the 49th pick, but decided to grab an extra pick from the Jets by trading down to #53. Mammoth All-American OT Marcus McNeil was sitting there for the taking at #49, but, after all, we didn't really need an athletic, quick & powerful offensive tackle at 6-8, 335 lbs. No, our strategy was to trade down 4 picks and take a back-up TE. The reason for this, we were told, was to find another quality TE to maximize our new two TE system.
Well, we're almost through the season, and I'm still waiting to see our vaunted 2 tight end system that was going to baffle defenses, and create mismatches all over the field.
Oh, as far as Mr. McNeil, he was taken with the very next pick (#50), by the SD Chargers. Surprise, huh? It is getting to be an aggrivating habit of the Bolts to wait for us to shoot ourselves in the foot, then take the player that would have benefited us most. Here is an excerpt on how Marcus McNeil has done so far this season:

Just how many OT's come in and play that well as a rookie. Looks like the Chargers took a gamble and so far its paying off. BP took much less of a gamble on Columbo and its paying off as well. Both teams got what they needed.

Bottom line is guys with his ability are usualy top ten picks, when you have achance to grab him in the second round, you do it! Especially when your O-line play has been real bad.
That whole "he wouldn't have started as a rookie crap is lame. Think like that and you will never build a dominate O-Line, you have to invest in the future.
I am happy with columbo's play, but any way you slice it, adding a young stud O-lineman with dominant future potential to your team at a great value is how you build a dominant O-Line.
Hindsight?
D-1= Davin Joseph
D-2= Marcus Mcneil
