Another thought on why McFadden may have been signed

I think he was signed to appease Jerry and make him feel better about the loss of Murray.

Jerry wanted to have a picture taken with a free agent signing, so the FO set this up.

Jerry doesn't know any better and its only a 200K cap hit when he gets released. So I see no harm in it.

nope

we had a RB that got 2200 yds and 13 TDs last year and he was younger and had less wear and tear

why get so much worse on purpose???

And that guy is destined to be a salary cap anchor within a very short time period. This guy is playing for the NFL version of practically free, freeing up a ton of resources to spend on the defense (which, admittedly, I wish they would start doing already) and to make sure the NFL leading Oline stays intact for the foreseeable future..

The draft is not instead of FA, it is in addition to and all those teams that spent this week get to draft as well

I'm on board with you there. If the end game is McFadden then they are pissing this season away.
