Dak is a good QB. He has potential to be a great QB. He has actually gotten better each year, so I'm NOT on the "Dump Dak" bandwagon. I also do NOT want to pay him $40 million a year or some other stupidly high number. However, in today's market, a slightly better than average QB, in his prime, commands HUGE dollars. The non-exclusive Franchise tag seems like it might be a good solution, at least for a year.

I just STILL wish that we had traded him to Cleveland after his rookie year. The Browns would have given ANYTHING for him. Herschel Walker Deal 2.0.

JG gone and Dak signed. New HC will be happy to have him. Maybe new DC and OC, or Moore stays. I just don’t know if JJ will let the new guy pick his own coordinators.

He didn’t let Wade and he hasn’t let Garrett. I suspect he keeps Moore as OC.

I like Moore but this has to be the new coaches decision, his scheme, his system, his coaches. If he interviews Moore and likes what he sees fine, but if Jerry tries to shove him down a new coaches throat, nothing changes,.

Scenario #1. Both Garrett and Dak are axed come the spring.

Scenario #2. Garrett stays while Cowboys move up in the draft for there new Franchise QB prospect.

Let's be honest here most of our team's woes stem from lack of QB play and scoring!

Yes, Garrett is not perfect and probably has overstayed his welcome but over-all he seems like a qualified coach who will have a new gig once he is let go.

Don't kid yourselves, boys and girls, Jerry thought he had found Romo's replacement with a 4 th comp pick and he cannot hold Garrett responsible for his massive mistake here.

Anyway, I have rarely been wrong here in these wonderful forums so expect a very intense spring full of lots of surprises.....
While I agree that Dak is holding us back regardless of whatever the coaches do I still put blame on the coaches for sticking with this guy and how they've mishandled many other situations. I'd rather see a new coach and new QB. Dak's lopsided play doesn't discredit all the other mistakes of JG and this coaching staff.

Unlike most people, I appreciate your posts. We need a little pessimism to counter the overwhelming optimism. But I'm not quite as bummed out by Dak as you are. Don't get me wrong, I do not think he should get a 30+ million dollar a year contract, but I don't necessarily think he's the problem right now either. Was Tony Romo the problem in 2010 when the players quit on Wade? No. Nor do I think Dak is the problem now. I say either franchise or transition tag dak for a year and replace this coach. See how it turns out before breaking the bank. If we're 8-8 with Dak, we can be 8-8 without him.

Franchising Dak will solve nothing as we're just wasting another year waiting for Dak to become this Franchise QB.
Year 5 coming up I wonder if we will still be having this conversation when it's his 8th year in the league and we're still a bottom red-zone top Field goal kicking team in the league?

So when Dallas loses to a good team it’s Dak’s fault? When they go down 14-0 and sleep walk through the first quarter that’s Dak. When they get repeatedly gashed in the running game that’s Dak. Special teams screw ups Dak too. All the missed tackles that’s Dak. The FG misses - Dak. Look at the guy’s record since he got in the league. He is a winner despite the terrible coaching. Statistically he is one of the best in the league so it’s not garbage time.

Please try not to be biased.

Also where were you Dak haters a couple weeks ago?
I'm no Dak hater, but I've always been critical of his flaws since they were exposed year 1. And I've always said to never overestimate his abilities when it appears the offensive roster and scheme seem to be more responsible for his play. And we're still questioning his flaws near the end of year 4. I don't know about you but breaking the bank at this position on a huge ? is a disaster waiting to happen. You all think we're circling the drain now, wait til we get flushed, there's no coming back up for a while.

We get rid of Dak and keep Garrett. And if Dak ever goes to another team and beats a Garrett lead team like Beasley did. We can hear Cowboys fans complaining about how we should have kept Dak over the new Cowboys QB and how Jerry should have fired Garrett a long time ago and not like Dak go. Despite their suggestions of letting Dak go. :muttley::rolleyes:

First Romo was holding back Garrett (it's true, just ask Garrett) and now Dak is holding him back.

Poor guy can't catch a break.

Let Garrett get a chance with a million different QBs. Each QB having a 3 or 4 year window to win a Superbowl for Garrett and if he doesn't he gets tossed out whil Garrett stays.

No Dak Haters here just Cowboy Lover's!
And this anemic offense is pretty much all on Dak for the last 3 years.
Ya, we're Cowboy fans, not brown or Bills fans and almost win scenarios and garbage time stats don't impress us.
We are America's team and deserve and require a QB who can keep the STAR shining bright not padding his stats when GB is up in our HOUSE 31-3 etc etc.
Or having him feed off our other talents like Zeke so he can get top 5 QB cash for being a glorified Bus Driver.
Cowboy Fan over and out!
The STAR above all and ya even Dak!

You want a guarantee, here it is: Dak is a member of this football team next year. That is guaranteed no matter what. You can see me next year if not.

Now as far as Garrett goes, I can "almost" guarantee you he will not be coaching this team next year, but our GM is the only reason I am hesitant on saying that. Everything says he should be, but we all know Jerry so the right thing is never guaranteed as far as Garrett goes.

P.s. this coming from a guy who remains on fence about Prescott. Not about JG, he is gone in my book

I don’t disagree. I also like Moore but Jerry hand picking the coordinators even before the head coach has not worked.

I think Dak is here to stay. Whether some on this board think he is a great QB, average QB, or crappy QB he will be here for a long time. Jerry will pay him a minimum of $30,000,000 a year. I do not think Dallas will win another SB in Jerry's lifetime. I hope I am wrong. I would love to see him win another.
