If TO goes down or if TO is not 100% come playoff time(like last year)... the run is over.

last yr yes, this yr no

this years team can definitely run the ball better than the past few years teams' have done, and the defense certainly has the talent to win games as well. Our special teams units are also all top notch (yes, even the coverage teams so far)

Does anybody not think that Jerry is savvy enough to bring T.O. in his office and ask for his opinion on this, all the while selling him on the idea of it and making him feel like the most important guy in the world ?

After you get R.W., who here really cares about the current receiver we have that gets the short straw to make room for him?

Thats the thing. Jerry and TO are "close" this closeness was established when Jerry flew TO in on his plane and Jerry talked about his humble beginnings and how he and TO are more the same than they are different. Jerry asked him, besides the money(fair market value/guaranteed reasonable money) what else?

Yes he 100% would have to massage Ownes, I could care less who got the short straw, ( but we did waste time trying to developing these guys ) I like Austin and Hurd. But again I just think T.O would blow Up no Matter what. you can do all the talking and massaging you like the media pressure would be on him like white on rice. Look at the coverage he gets now. There waiting for him to blow up, guys I think its a real dicey situation That's all...

Like I posted already. I dont think it would be massaging. Jerry brings TO in to talk and says "I want a ring, you want a ring... we are gonna make a run at RW... what do you think? - BRING HIM.

Its all about the ring because Jerry has already taken care of the issues TO had.... the rest of the issues ROMO has taken care of.

Its quite a SWEET fit.

I cant get fired up about this...I just dont see it happeneing.

I'm not going to get fired about it either, but I do believe that there is a real possibility that Williams ends up here. Sometimes I believe it's more a question of when, not if.

We'll see.

I don't think we can win a championship w.o. TO.

TO is a far greater receiver than Roy, and adding Roy will actually benefit the numbers for TO in terms of YPC...

Roy has the talent to be an elite receiver in the league. For one he'll be pumped to be on a winner, and especially back in Texas and playing for the Cowboys. Apparently he's a guy who needs to be motivated. He'll be jacked and will play hard here for that reason alone. And I also think playing with Owens will motivate him to be the best wr he can be..He can learn a lot from Owens, primarily his work ethic..Hopefully it inspires him to work hard and stay focused when playing. If he does that he can be in Owens' class. He'll open things up for Owens, and if they try to take Owens out, it will open things up for Roy to torch the opposing defense. And with him having the ability to be a good #1 in the league we'll have someone on the roster to take over as a #1 receiver once Owens is gone or his talent finally starts to degrade. Which has to happen eventually.

I don't feel we need the guy with Austin coming on strong.

We need him to replace T.O. in a few years.

I do not know why people cannot understand that.

Wow. You suprised me with that response.

You know that if TO isnt out there drawing double and triple coverage then the box gets filled and our poor run blocking line gets exposed.

No one on our team scares defenses besides TO. Not Witten(he cant do it alone), not Crayton, Miles or Hurd. If TO goes down then Wittens numbers/production takes a massive hit.

You probably see Romo run a little more to save drives... get those 1st downs etc.

To me, the big issues are:

1. Will there be a salary cap after 2009?

2. Can we get Roy Williams signed without having to lose an important player on the team. We've already chosen to extend TO, re-sign Flo, TNew, Hamlin and Barber to new deals in the last year. Adam would know better than anyone our ability do do this but I have heard it is going to be tight next year without adding a Roy Williams.

3. His level of productivity is not high for a guy people are talking about giving $8-9M/yr for. That's the sort of money given to Fitz, TO and Owens. Roy is not in their class and I think someone will be very disappointed to have paid #1 WR to get #2 type production.

Fitz, TO and OWens...:muttley: each are making double digits.

The desire to add Roy Williams is really about 2 things.

1. An insurance policy against losing Terrell Owens to injury again. This team was never close to the same after he was hurt. Not even the return of Terry Glenn could inject some life into the Offense.

2. It is a way to further create matchup problems for Defenses to adjust to.

Who cares if he scores a lot of touchdowns when he comes here? No one should. What they should notice is that it causes teams to leave Owens or Witten in single coverage more often. Is it impossible to believe he could actually flourish in a better Offense than he has been in during his career? Why?

I am no longer worried about chemistry on this team. They have a singular focus and drive to win and every player who has joined the locker room has found acceptance. An unselfish player like Roy Williams would not change that.

All this move does is make us that much stronger and it is a measure towards the future, not just this season. People say "what about the progress of Crayton and Austin and Hurd and Stanback?" What about it? I don't see where this move denies them anything or stops their progress. If they shut down because a player is added then they are too fragile to matter to the team anyway.

Good points....

Fitz is, but I thought Moss and TO got 3 years $27M.

According to this link, TO got 4 years $34M ($8.5M/season)

hmmm I could have sworn Moss signed for 3 year 30 mill O well then I guess he should be played accordingly maybe in the range of 6-7 mill. The thing is if he comes to us his numbers will sky rocket.

That is conjecture to some extent. His numbers are underwhelming when compared to the elites of the league. He has only put up one superlative season whereas most of the top guys have put up several highly productive seasons.

Think about Plaxico Burress. He is another big receiver with attitude concers and inconsistent production. He ended up having hardly any interested parties and ended up signing with the Giants for 6 years $26M, if I remember correctly. I don't think Roy's numbers are much better than Burress' were.
