Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
March 26: Barr set to meet with Cowboys
Last week it was reported that Barr would have a private meeting with the Atlanta Falcons. Now we have learned that he's got a pretty busy schedule in the coming weeks. Barr has several meetings set up in addition to the one with the Falcons. "There have been a couple teams that have reached out," Barr told FOXSports. "I have a couple visits. I'm going to Pittsburgh. I was going to go to Detroit, but I met with their GM the day before the pro day, so I don't know if they think it's necessary. I'm also meeting with the Cowboys, Titans and Vikings."

I know some may disagree, I think Barr has a chance to make it to 16. Then we take him and everyone unfairly will be expecting a Ware clone right off the bat. I think he is a lot more raw coming out than he was. From what I have seen, he is pure speed. That is great to start off with, but he needs some work. This is another player I would like a lot more if we were still in the 3-4.

Agree with every word. Despite needing development, this guy has too much talent at a position of too much value to not pick him...but the impact would be more immediate if we played a 3-4 still.

I like this. They obviously think he can fit the system. Explosive edge player we need.
All aboard the DE train

Why do people keep doing this? He is too small to play DE on a permanent basis in the NFL. As a true linebacker who blitzes? yes absolutely but not DE.

People said the same thing about Von Miller.

He is 255 now. Why cant he add 10-12 lbs on a 6 5" frame.

Why do people keep doing this closed minded i know best impression?

Isn't that what you are doing by asking a linebacker to move to a position he's never played? You act like adding 10-12 lbs is nothing and it might not be if you don't mind adding fat. But I don't think yoiu are asking that. To add that much weight takes a great diet and a complete change of his workout and most importantly time. To put on that much weight would require at least a season because playing the rigors of the season will take weight off him. So he wouldn't be able to gain that kind of quality weight until next year and it would most likely greatly change his speed. That said I would still like him... just not as a position change to DE.

DWare is about 6'4 and 255 lbs. Barr, as has been mentioned, is 6'5 255. And the guy is 22 years old... he's naturally going to gain a little weight and overall strength as his body matures and he goes through the professional strength and conditioning program. I just don't see any reason at all that he can't really easily get into the low 260's and maintain his explosiveness.

And he'd likely be part of a rotation early and maybe even be given the flexibility to elect to rush from a 2-point stance as well. Gray areas.

Actually, he was 247 at his Pro Day. So, does he have trouble keeping weight on? I think the BIGGEST issue for him is not his weight, but his strength (15 Reps of 225). Even though Ware was only 251 at the '05 Combine, he put up 27 Reps. BIG difference.

Barr is 6-5, 255.

Elvis Dumervil, Robert Mathis, Dwight Freeney, Cameron Wake (6-3, 260)...

Barr should be a top target.

Though I do agree he would be ideal for a 3-4, he's got so much talent and production, he would easily be the BPA at 16.

Most players keep their weight on the low side for the combine in order to get the best times in the forty and agility drills.

I'm hoping Barr makes it to us. I think he's got a world of potential for that weak-side DE after a season or so.

I think there is an excellent chance he does. 4 potential QBs, 3 LT, top WR and two great D prospects will push someone down. Likely a guy like Barr or Donald who have a little more question marks

Barr's the guy I think will slide, too. He'd be great value at that point.

I'm sure CHI overpaid Jared Allen with the express intent of targeting Donald in the draft. Those couple draft slots made a lot of difference in this case. I like the combo of Allen/Donald better than the likely combinations of Melton/1st round DEs. The only exception to this is if Barr slides to us, and even then I think I like Allen/Donald better if it weren't for the fact that we got a smoking free trial on Melton this coming season when we really needed it.
