24 other CB's heard their name called before Dallas selected Anthony Brown in the 6th round.

I suspect about 12 or more of these guys taken after round 3 didn't make the team.

When our secondary is healthy, Brown was playing limited snaps as the 3rd CB in our nickel package and excelling in that role. He's been kind of exposed the last 2 games having to play like a starting CB and trying to cover people like DeSean Jackson, but people need to remember this is a 6th round rookie in his first year in the league.

Haven't seen anything most here have to praise the guy. Might be a decent CB in a limited role in the future, but that's about it. Just another DB who rarely gets his hands on the ball.

Guy has 34 tackles in limited action, 4 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble but just another guy?

OK then.
I was about to respond to your initial post asking who needed to remember this...but i forgot where i was.

I think you know "tackles" for a DB isn't exactly a great statistic. The one forced fumble is the only one you can definitively say, as a raw statistic, is positive. Pass deflections could also mean he's being targeted too much.

This feels very much like Hitchens in 2014, the blind love while everyone overlooked his mistakes because "rookie" - Brown hasn't shown me anything that says he will be anything good or great in the future. About the only thing I've been pleased with is, he's at least a decent tackler. Rob loves that, so he'll have a place here as long as Rob is DC. Brown looks to have a ceiling of an average nickel corner in this league, he damn sure doesn't look like he can cover the outside.

I don't know. I'm expecting him to get a couple of INTs this year, and he's fast enough to eventually get pick 6s. I think the first time I heard about him in training camp, it was because he picked off Romo. And he jumped a route nicely in preseason.

Lol at the idea that he's might be a guy with a limited future role.

I wouldn't even say he got exposed v. PIT. Roethisberger was just that good that day. It's not like our DBs were out of position for the most part. It took until, what, week 10 for us to give up a 100 yard WR, with all the prevent we've played, and with Mo out how many weeks? Give me a break. Even getting burned by Jackson last week, while unforgivable, given the down/distance I sort of understand why he thought Jackson might have been breaking on that route. That's one of 3-4 deep pass plays we've given up all season as far as I can remember.

For a rookie 6th round pick who'd never played slot before and who was thrust into the starting lineup, he's been a godsend. Just think what this defense would look like if we didn't have an extra press CB to play and were in zone a lot more with very little pass rush as a result.

Yes!
We did get a steal with the 189th pick.

it was a pretty good class.

After the 100th pick I'd say so far the best values are Brown, Tavon Young, Dieondre Hall (already 2 picks and forced fumble), and Rashard Robinson.
I think maybe DJ White is helping too...not 100% sure.
The class was good enough that pretty much everyone on your list made either the regular team or the PS (5-6 or so).

Anyone know how Brandon Williams is doing in Arizona? Was a fan of him when he was a running back at Texas A&M.

That play was really the only bust he has had.....yet we have seen guys like Revis, Sherman and Norman burned just as badly this year.

He gets targeted a lot because he's a rookie. They aren't looking to go at MoC first when he's out there. Because they throw at him more he gets more tackles. Only Carr and Byron Jones have more tackles in the secondary. Nobody gets YAC on him. He's a definite find in the 6th.

Who the F is Rob?

Your player evaluations are hilarious. Brown has been very good.

And not an argument. Please, show me who Brown has gone up against, show me his best games, and how he's been "very good". His 4 pass deflections came against San Fran, Baltimore, and Washington. Outside of those games, he hasn't got his hands on the ball. He had 7 tackles in the Washington game because of how often he was being targeted. 6 against Steelers, again, often being targeted.

We won't be going up against Gabberts, Hoyers, struggling Daltons, and Cleveland Browns always.

Not entirely sure why it's wrong to state he's going to be nothing more than a decent DB in the future. What I'm seeing from Brown is the same crap I saw from Patmon when he got a bigger role, he became a liability and Brown has been giving up far too many yards when going against above average talent, he's not getting the turnovers to cancel out his negatives. As I said, he is a decent tackler, had a couple good behind the line tackles this year, but there's more to the DB position than that.

You guys see a steal, I see a guy that is showing why he was drafted that late.

So basically....he's getting targeted like he's a 6th round rookie? And it sure as hell looked like Jackson got some YAC against him.

Guys drafted that late aren't putting the time on the field that Brown is. He isn't getting toasted. That says a lot.

He has gone against Big Ben, Cousins, Rodgers....don't make it like he hasn't played anybody. And saying that it isn't a big deal he is making a lot of tackles. Corners and safeties have more tackles than just about anyone outside of MLB's these days. Look at our individual stats.....after Lee our next 6 highest tacklers are members of the secondary.

And for reference, it is the same regarding tackles for the Seahawks. Wagner with a ton. KJ Wright has a lot too, then the next 6 are corners and safeties.

Recency bias. Brown's last game wasn't his best so its clouding your judgment. He has been solid and has made few rookie mistakes.

LOL what the heck happened to him against the Skins and Steelers? Who was it that gave up the sideline catch on a 3rd and 12 against the Ravens?

So basically he plays well when the competition is low. So, he's playing like a 6th round rookie? LOL
